Peanuts Envy

Charlie Brown appreciation week continues on Fanboys of the Universe with a brand new podcast! In this episode, Johnny, Tommy and I take a fond look back on the perennial holiday classic about finding the true meaning of Christmas.
So, how do warm memories of Charles Schulz‘s beloved characters devolve into a discussion of The Orphan, zombies and Dr. Manhattan‘s junk? Well, it’s easier than you might think.
As always, thanks for listening! And Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown!
Of Trannies and Truckstop Whores

In our final Comics of the Universe feature exploring the diverse and complex world of Justin Hall, we get a glimpse at what Justin’s working on now. The Liar is Justin’s new graphic novel, a story about the cross-country adventure of two strangers, each harboring his own secrets and lies. We also get part two of the FBOTU podcast interview with Justin, where we explore the origins of Glamazonia, the Uncanny Super Tranny and talk about the challenges of bringing The Liar to life.
I hope you’ve enjoyed our time with Justin and our look into the work of a very talented independent artist. The goal, as always, in getting to know these creators is to hopefully inspire others to follow their dreams, publish that comic, record that CD, whatever you’ve been meaning to do, but haven’t. Justin’s Comics of the Universe submissions will be up for a few more weeks, then we’ll have a new artist after the first of the year.
You can learn more about Justin and his work at AllThumbsPress.com. Thanks, Justin!
Sex and Justin Hall

This week you’re getting a double whammy of Justin Hall. First, in our podcast interview, Justin talks about the highs and lows of self-publishing, writing a good travel tale and how sex and sexuality influence his work. As luck would have it, sex fits in perfectly with this week’s Comics of the Universe installment. Justin treats us to a walk on the wild side, with images and recollections from his work (with sexy bad boy Dave Davenport) on the erotic-inspired comic Hard To Swallow.
Warning! This week’s Comics of the Universe installment and the podcast interview contain explicit material. I would not advise clicking or listening at work.
As always, thanks for listening. Part 2 of my interview with Justin will be posted next week. Enjoy!
Steve Berman Returns!

Oh happy day! I’m pleased to announce the return of the FBOTU Podcast! It took a while to recover from the Wild Cherry Pepsi Laptop Disaster of 2009, but we’re back! The technical issues have been resolved, the software has been recovered, and the show will be posted again on a more regular basis. This episode also features the return of author (and friend of FBOTU) Steve Berman! Steve is the owner and publisher of Lethe Press, which specializes in gay-themed speculative fiction. You know, sci-fi, fantasy, horror and tales of the weird and fantastic, all from the gay perspective.
In this special Halloween-themed episode, Steve and I discuss and dish on shirtless werewolves, vampbears and Bubba Ho-Tep. Here are some highlights:
Vampire Sex Leaves Us Cold
I don’t know about you, but the last thing I want during sex is some cold corpse pawing at me. Unless it’s a really hot day. And even then...ew. Steve and I chat about the mechanics of vampire lovin’.
On a Gay Spec Fic Kick
Steve tells me all about Icarus, a new magazine devoted to gay speculative fiction. If you like your ghosts, ghouls and galaxies on the gay side, Icarus is for you.
Have Yourself a Scary Little Halloween
Finish those costumes, hit those parties or stay home and trick with your handsome treat, just don’t miss out on the gayest holiday of the year.
Thanks for listening! We’ll have another episode up soon. Enjoy!
Torching Torchwood

What do you know? It’s a new podcast! In this episode, site member Tommy and I discuss our immediate reaction to Torchwood: Children of Earth, the 5-part miniseries that aired in the UK last week. It’s scheduled to air in the US starting July 20. If you haven’t seen it yet, beware! There are spoilers aplenty in this podcast! Highlights include:
Way, Way Outside the Government
Who hurt you, Russell T. Davies? Was it Tony Blair? Clearly, Russell’s got an issue or two with the government. I blame the Queen.
Jack Attack
Remember when Jack used to be a fun-loving scoundrel and not a horrible, horrible monster? I don’t.
Maybe It’s a British Thing, Sweetie Darling
Have you invested years and emotions in this series? Davies has a farewell message for you. I’ll give you a clue. It’s stars with a “F**K” and ends with a “YOU.” Aren’t you glad you watched?
Though raw, uncensored and surprisingly emotional, this podcast episode does have some laughs! And it’s nowhere near as depressing and bleak as Children of Earth. That was sort of a spoiler. Sorry! Thanks for listening!
Dungeons and Drag Queens

I was at the amusement park the other day and somehow got zapped into a hellish realm of demons and monsters and tiny senile tour guides and thought, “We should do a podcast retrospective of 80s Saturday morning cartoon favorite Dungeons & Dragons!” And wouldn’t it be fun to get trapped in said hellish realm with site members Allen, Johnny M, Rhea and special celebrity guest Tommy Roddy, D&D fan and author of Pride High! So buy an “E” ticket and join us on a ride into the Realm! Here are some highlights:
The FBOTU Players Present: The Lost Episode
If you’ve been dying for another taste of the awesome acting talents of our troupe, you’re in luck! We start the ‘cast with a short performance of “The Lost Episode,” which was written in about ten minutes after watching 12 hours of D&D and consuming two bottles of champagne.
Saturday Morning with Satan
A cartoon based on a controversial role-playing game. You think people are wacko over violent video games and television shows now? The guys reminisce about a simpler time, when you could get a half hour of the occult in between Captain Caveman and Shirt Tales.
Dungeon Master Johnny
Johnny schools and spanks the rest of us with his encyclopedic (and kind of sexy) knowledge of all things D&D. Listen to him correct me about 1,000 times.
Is That a Quarterstaff in Your Pocket?
Fairies, bears, trolls, queens and gender-bending dragons. Yeah, it was totally gay.
Thanks for listening!
Podcast Episode 22: You’re a Wonder, Mike Pingel!

Can you believe it? New podcasts two weeks in a row! Woohoo! I attribute my increase in energy to my new diet of Slim-Fast and tequila. In this week’s episode, I chat with Mike Pingel, author of The Q Guide to Wonder Woman. Order your copy from Amazon today! Here are a few highlights from the ‘cast:
What Becomes a Legend Most?
Right actress. Right show. Right time. Lynda Carter has become an icon. Can it happen again?
You Spin Me Right ‘Round
When the glasses came off and the spinning began, a generation of gay boys fell in love. So what is it about Lynda Carter’s Wonder Woman that speaks to the gays? Is it the magic formula of great hair, great costume and a boyfriend who’s always getting tied up?
Come Back to the Five and Dime, Eve Plumb, Eve Plumb
Off on a tangent, Mike and I discuss the Tao of Jan Brady and how we can lure Eve back into the Brady house.
My special thanks to Mike for letting me lasso him into this interview. You can learn more about Mike at his official website. Thanks for listening! Enjoy!

Podcast Episode 21: Tights, Capes and Cowls

Yay! A new podcast! Site member Allen joins me for a lighthearted and colorful discussion of the latest issues of our favorite comics, including Booster Gold, Superman: The World of New Krypton and The Battle for the Cowl. Here are some highlights:
Love Means Never Having to Say You’re Dead
A true bromance never dies! Will Booster come face-to-face with his dearly departed Blue Beetle in the Blackest Night series? Gold and black could be a very dashing color combo for summer.
Does This Cowl Make Me Look Fat?
Dick isn’t feeling up for the challenge of being Batman. Is he going soft, or can he penetrate the problem? He doesn’t want to be jerked around, but he’s about to explode. I could do this all day. Really.
Don’t Cry For Me, New Krypton
Superman isn’t so super anymore, now that there’s 100,000 Kryptonians all up in his business. Where’s Richard Pryor when you need him?
As always, thanks for listening!
Podcast Episode 20: Tommy Dearest
It’s fairly well known that I turn into a complete and total dork around cute guys. Like, the “falling down stairs and walking into walls” brand of dorkdom. Apparently, it also happens over the phone, because it took me a total of three tries to successfully record a podcast with dreamy Pride High author Tommy Roddy. Take a gander:

If you haven’t hopped on board the Pride High bandwagon, now’s the perfect time to learn about Tommy, the world of independent comics and the super students of Poseidon Prep. Here are the highlights!
Pride High Pop Quiz
If I had super powers as a gay teenager, I’m pretty certain the armed forces or Robert Smith would have been mobilized to bring me down. Luckily, the kids in Pride High are a little more disciplined and heroic.
Red Rover, Red Rover, Send the Homo Right Over
The funniest story about inadvertently outing yourself on the first day of school you’ll ever hear.
Is That a Unicorn in Your Pocket?
Tommy and I discuss important childhood influences like cartoons, toys and whether or not to kick Venger’s ass on Dungeons & Dragons.
Some of My Best Friends...
Mr. Roddy solves the whole homophobia thing and even throws in a They Might Be Giants reference for good measure. (Hint: It’s not Birdhouse in Your Soul.)
Don’t Dream It; Be It
Tommy clues me in on what it takes to write and produce an independent comic. I consider resurrecting my Stick Figure Superheroes epic. Failing that, we might just submit a character for possible inclusion in a future issue of Pride High. Read all about it and join in here.
FREE, EASY AND GAY
Head on over to Pride High‘s official website, and check out the character bios! Then, just report back here and list your favorite character in the comments section. The first five who respond will get a FREE copy of Issue #7 of Pride High! What could be easier?
Thanks for listening!
Podcast Episode 19: Frak Me Gently with a Chainsaw

If you’re like me (and why wouldn’t you be?), you have a frakkin’ fanboy hardon for the January 16 premiere of the final frakkin’ season of Battlestar Galactica on SciFi. And, if not, then frak you, mother frakker. If case you hadn’t guessed, I just watched all of Season 4 of BSG with my friend Hudson. Not to be confused with this Hudson:
Ten hours and ten bottles of champagne later, we offer our thoughts, impressions and deepest feelings about the fate of humanity, the Final Five and what we might do if we found out we were sleeping with a Cylon. Hudson thinks love conquers all, whereas I think Cylons conquer all and would promptly take over Earth. Whether you’re a BSG devotee or not, tune in to learn what a 10-hour marathon can do to two sloshy gay fanboys. Or, just tune in to hear Hudson’s sexy Southern accent. Yowza! And if you want to buy Season 4 on DVD, just click on the Battlestar Galactica link in the FBOTU Recommends box in the right column.
Be sure to join in the live BSG Talkback Thread during the premiere of the show on Friday, January 16! It’ll be frak-tastic! As always, thanks for listening!
Podcast Episode 18: A Very Merry He-Man Christmas

Sorry Charlie Brown. Sorry Mr. Grinch. For me, it’s just not Christmas without an annual screening of He-Man and She-Ra: A Christmas Special. This year, I recruited site members and longtime Heroic Podboys of the Universe Allen, Razz-Bel, Johnny M and Havoc for a little post-show discussion and analysis of this venerable holiday classic. Highlights include:
It Came Upon A Midnight Clear Queen Marlena
After 20 years of life on Eternia, Queen Marlena suddenly remembers Christmas back home on Earth. That’s 20 years of Christmas cards she forgot to send.
It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas Transformers
The spin-off that never was, the Manchines and the Monstroids do their best to make Christmas a little more soulless and metallic for our heroes.
O Holy Bony Night
All it takes is a puppy to transform Skeletor from Evil Lord of Destruction into that creepy uncle you only see at Christmas. He-Man should have thought of that sooner.
Hark, Hear the Bells New FBOTU Theme Song
Our very own Johnny M has composed an awesome new theme song for our podcast and for the site! A download will be available soon. For now, be sure to listen to the podcast to be the first to hear this breakaway hit! You can also hear more of Johnny M’s music on MySpace Music.
Whether you’re on Earth or Etheria or Eternia or my ass, have a very merry He-Man Christmas! Thanks for listening!
Podcast Episode 17: Hot Gay Ghost Action

You know the story. Boy meets ghost. Boy loses ghost. Boy gets ghost back. Boy realizes ghost may not be the best boyfriend material after all. All holy hell breaks loose… Wait, you’re not familiar with that particular story? Well, you’re in luck. In this week’s podcast episode, I chat with Steve Berman, author of Vintage: A Ghost Story. Just in time for Halloween, Vintage tells the story of a young gay man’s relationship with the ghost of a boy long-since departed. Sweet, funny and oftentimes haunting and poignant, Vintage reminds us how first loves can be thrilling and heartbreaking all at the same time. Tune in to hear Steve’s inspiration for writing the book, his thoughts on goth fashion and why the gays love a good ghost story!
You can learn more about Steve and his work at his official website. And you can buy Vintage: A Ghost Story at your local gay bookstore, TLABooks.com, queerbooks.com or barnesandnoble.com.
Or, if you’re one of the first three to post the words “Trick or Treat” in the comments section below, you’ll win a FREE copy of Vintage. Read it under the covers with a flashlight for added spookiness!
Enjoy the podcast! Thanks for listening!
Podcast Episode 16: Outside the Government, Beyond the Police, Out of the Closet
Series Two of Torchwood, the big gay sci-fi snogfest, just came out on DVD, so I gathered Doctor Who/Torchwood experts Atragon (aka Adam) and Havoc (aka Nick) to discuss the show, Series Two and all things gay and bi in the world of Captain Jack Harkness. Speaking of gay and bi, here’s Jack and his current squeeze, Ianto:
And here are a few highlights from the podcast:
I Like Men with Big Discs
Five discs for 13 episodes? Really? We try to help conserve by only talking about the ones we liked.
If You Cross Timelines and Have Sex with Yourself, Is It Incest, Masturbation or Just Gay?***(See bottom of post for details.)
Adam tries to explain the complexities of time travel to my fragile little mind. I decide to go back in time and not listen to him.
“I’m John Barrowman! You May Remember Me From Such Films as Torchwood and Never Say Dyke”
Nick explains John Barrowman’s metamorphosis into Troy McClure, while Adam blames everything on the Puritans. Damn Puritans!
Thanks for listening! Here’s one more snog just for good measure!
***Feel free to offer your answer in the comments section. The most logical, creative or funny answer will win the Torchwood Series Two DVD! Professor Stephen Hawking not eligible to play.
Podcast Episode 15: Springfield’s Favorite Family

Believe it or not, there was a time before The Simpsons, when nothing happened of any historical relevance. Then the wacky yellow family we all know and love entered the scene, and nothing would (or will) ever be the same. The Season 11 DVD collection was just released last week, so Johnny M, Havoc and I discuss our favorite episodes and 20 years of the show in general. Here are some screaming yellow honkers...I mean, highlights:
And Then Homer Said, “Let There Be Jebus”
We discuss the hits, misses and milestones of Season 11, including the first utterance of “Jebus” in the world of The Simpsons.
“I’m Bart Simpson, Who the Hell Are You?”
Twenty years of Springfield hijinks. Where did the time go? We chat about the early days when The Simpsons either brought families together or tore them apart.
“Women and Seamen Don’t Mix”
Waylon Smithers. Patty Bouvier. Ralph Wiggum. Who are our gay role models in Springfield and what makes them tick?
Thanks for listening!
Podcast Episode 14: Gaylaxicon 2008

Gaylaxicon 2008 is almost here! A convention celebrating the worlds of science fiction and fantasy from a GLBT perspective, Gaylaxicon is celebrating its 20th Anniversary! This year, the convention is in Bethesda, Maryland, October 10-13. In this episode, Co-Chair of Programming Rob Gates joins me for a quick rundown on how it all got started, what makes the gays such a bunch of geeks and what you can expect at this year’s convention! If you’re in the Bethesda/DC/Baltimore area and would like to meet up at Gaylaxicon, let me know! But whether you can make it or not, you should definitely check out the Gaylaxicon website and read about the cool events and discussion panels planned. You’re not going to see some of these at any other convention this year! Here are some highlights from the panel discussion schedule:
Pandering (The Dumbledore Issue)
Was JK Rowling pandering to a GLBT audience by announcing that she wrote Dumbledore with a gay identity background?
Is It Good Because It’s Gay
As GLBT fans, are we allowed to be critical of works that are GLBT positive?
Can We Have Gay Villains Now?
Do the GLBT characters have to be the heroes?
Queers And Comics
What is it about comic heroes and heroines that continue to draw a significant GLBT following?
Kink in Sci-Fi/Fantasy or Where is that Tentacle Going?
Do we as a GLBT community have different perceptions of what is considered “kinky”?
FBOTU Podcast: Episode 13 “True Blood Sucks”

Woohoo! The second podcast in a row about vampires! I must be iron deficient. This time yours truly bites the silver bullet (wait, that’s werewolves) and watches the first two episodes of HBO’s new vampire series True Blood. Here are a few highlights:
He Met Marmalade Down in Old New Orleans
Well, not really New Orleans. New Orleans adjacent. And not really filmed there, but in Malibu Canyon. But still, very gothic.
Let’s Get to the Bottom of This
Apparently, I’ve never seen Ryan Kwanten before this show. Thankfully, we get to see a whole lot of Ryan. What’s that old saying? “Sometimes a good ass can save a bad show.” Here’s a pic of him, by the way:

The Eye(brows) Have It
Anna Paquin is a doll, but her wildly prancing eyebrow acting reminds me of Emma Watson in the Harry Potter movies. I kept expecting Anna to shout, “Wingardium leviosa!”
Jessica Tuck is the Greatest Actress in the World
Making a cameo appearance (so far), Jessica Tuck plays the very articulate spokesperson for the vamp rights movement. Sigh. I love her so. If you listen to the podcast, I mention the name of a character she used to play. If you’re the first to post the name of that character in the comments section, I’ll send you the True Blood comic book that was distributed at Comic-Con!
Enjoy! Thanks for listening!
Podcast Episode 12: A Look Back at Buffy

Yay! The Fanboys of the Universe podcast is back! And this time, it’s personal. Actually, this time it’s Buffy. Johnny M, Funkymono and I are joined by Long-Suffering Boyfriend Michael and our innocent friends Ben and Gary for a viewing of “Welcome to the Hellmouth,” the first episode of the beloved series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Here are some highlights:
What’s the Sitch?
We look at the turbulent decade known as the 90s and revisit the characters, the history and the vocabulary of BTVS.
Into Every Generation, A Homo Is Born
Does Buffy have a gay following? Ha! Does a vampire suck blood? Yes. The answer is yes. We discuss the appeal of a girl with a stake and why the gays want to be part of the Scooby Gang.
There’s Nothing We Can’t Face, Except for Bunnies
She’s not in this episode, but we can’t help but reminisce about our favorite vengeance demon turned venture capitalist. Oh Anya, how we miss you!
Thanks for listening! If you have suggestions for future episodes for us to review and discuss, feel free to suggest them!
Podcast Episode 11: Hold Me, Batboy

Oh, that crazy Batman with his bat gadgets and batcycles and bat nipples. Wait, no bat nipples this time? Damn you, Christopher Nolan! In this week’s podcast, Allen, Johnny and I examine The Dark Knight and try to figure out what makes him tick. I think the Joker said it best: “Why so serious?” But we do our best to take a fun, lighthearted look at the darkest, most depressing film ever made. Here are a few bat highlights:
Bat Dance
Fanboys of the world (not universe; we’re special) are in a bat frenzy over the new movie. Why now? Why this movie? Why doesn’t Christian Bale take his clothes off more often?
Karl Rove Film School Presents...
Should we leave fighting terrorism to rich white guys and their corporate friends? I say no. Allen says please pass the wiretap.
In Memory of Joel Schumacher
Bat gloss? Gay. Batman’s crush on Harvey Dent? Gay. Nestor Carbonell’s eyelashes? Gay. Gary Oldman’s refusal to be sexy? Not so gay.
Enjoy! As always, thanks for listening!

Enjoy! As always, thanks for listening! And whatever you do, don’t click here.
Podcast Episode 10: Thor 101 Part One

By Odin’s beard! Here’s the first installment in our Thor 101 series! It’s also the first time I’ve taken the show on the road! On location at my local comic book store, I interrogate Chris, my hunky new comic book retailer. Listen closely as I try to butch it up to match Chris’s deep, sexy voice. You’ll forgive me for forgetting what the hell we’re talking about from time to time. If you’re a casual Thor fan or have no clue who or what he is, here’s where to begin! Highlights include:
I’m Too Sexy for My Hammer
Who’s buying Thor? Can you pick a Thor fan out in a crowd? You can if they’re wearing a helmet and carrying a big-ass hammer.
46 Years? That’s like 2,000 in Gay Years
Old Thor versus new Thor. What are fans saying? What do you need to know to jump right in?
I See Your True Colors Shining Through
Rainbow bridge? Check. Big, blonde muscle boy? Check. Gigantic phallic symbol swinging all over the place? Check.
Enjoy! As always, thanks for listening!

It’s the Muppets‘ world; we just live in it. In a brand new, super-sized podcast, Nick, Adam, Johnny M, Razz-Bel and I bring you up to date on all things Muppet. Whether you’re a diehard fan or have strayed from the felt fold, you’re gonna love hearing us all geek out on the Muppets. Here are a few highlights:
Why Don’t You Get Things Started?
The guys discuss The Muppet Show Season Three DVD that’s in stores now. You’ll be surprised to learn Liberace was not the gayest thing about this season!
Muppet News Flash
We rip off the latest Muppet headlines straight from MuppetNewsFlash.com, and Adam continues his quest to destroy all that is good in the world by starting World War III with me over Emmett Otter’s Jug Band Christmas.
Tinseltown: The Best Gay Muppet Comedy About Pig/Bull Love You’ll See All Day
If you haven’t seen Tinseltown, go to Logo and check it out. You won’t be sorry. Be sure to give it a good rating, so we can get some more! Nipples!
Enjoy! As always, thanks for listening!
He’s Here, He’s Green, Get Used to It!
Sorry this is so late! I went to the True Colors 2008 concert last night instead of doing my podcast homework. And tomorrow...we have a big announcement...which is taking up a little bit of time in prep work. But never fear! The podcast is here! Nick and I go mano-a-mano on the latest FBOTU news and gossip. Here are a few highlights:

It’s Not Easy Being Green
Nick and I discuss the most important plot points of the new Incredible Hulk movie, including Edward Norton’s toenails and William Hurt’s hair. And I tell about my special movie date with myself. And yes, I got lucky at the end of the night!
Horton Hears a Doctor Who
Nick gives us the scoop on the new wave of Doctor Who figures coming out, as well as all the inside queer references in the TV series. Meanwhile, I get morning (Torch)wood over the idea of a new Captain Jack figure.
A Super Tranny Mess
If you haven’t picked up Justin Hall’s comic book Glamazonia: The Uncanny Super Tranny, you are missing out! Strap on your heels, grab your wig and go get it!
Enjoy! As always, thanks for listening!
A Skrull Is a Guy That Thinks He’s Fly

The comics mis-education of your moderator continues! Allen and Adam do their best to bring yours truly up to speed on what’s hot and what’s new in the world of comics. Tune in to hear all the latest news and, of course, my stupid questions. Beware, spoilers abound! Here are a few highlights:
Madrox Gets a Lot Done in a Day
Adam gives us the lowdown on the downlow Mutants who are apparently restoring a beautiful turn-of-the-century brownstone in Hell’s Kitchen.
Thor’s Hammer Hangs to the Left
Allen and Thor compare mighty hammers. Allen wins.
No Skrulls
I don’t want no Skrull
A Skrull is a guy that can’t get no love from me
Hanging out the passenger side
Of his best friend’s ride
Trying to holler at me
Enjoy! As always, thanks for listening!
Podcast Episode 6: He-Man and the Podboys of the Universe

Season One, Volume Two of the Mike Young Productions series of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe hit stores last week, so the Podboys of the Universe crack it open and go over every episode and feature in full fanboy detail! Here are a few highlights:
I Am Adam...Um...Something?
Allen and Johnny take a stab at reciting the classic intro that should have been burned into all of our memories forever. Never send a He-Boy to do a He-Man’s job.
Orko’s Package
Two words you never thought you’d see together. Well, here they are. And there it is. Tune in and find out where to see it!
Man-at-Arms is a Power Bottom
Johnny explains the secret code and function of Duncan’s manly ponytail.
Enjoy! As always, thanks for listening!
P.S. Be sure to keep listening after the music outro on the podcast for a quick outtake.
Podcast Episode 5: Indiana Jones and the Shia-Obsessed Fanboys
Adventure! Romance! Inappropriate discussions about Shia LaBeouf’s anatomy!
Hear it all in the latest episode of the Fanboys of the Universe podcast! Now with genuine sound effects!

In this week’s thrilling installment, I am joined by funnyman Chuck from Daily Chuckle, Razz-Bel and new Podboy of the Universe Johnny M. Since Razz-Bel is also a Johnny, chaos and confusion ensue! There’s a trick to telling them apart, though. One has a Minnesota accent and one has a Texas accent. But which is which?! Only the Crystal Skull knows! Spoliers abound! In fact, so many spoilers that I lost count at, like, a million. So beware!
Enjoy! Thanks for listening!
Podcast Episode 4: Summer Movie Preview

After a two-week hiatus, the Fanboys of the Universe podcast is back! In this episode, LongSufferingBoyfriend Michael, Adam and I do a quick run-down on the big fanboy movies coming to a theater near you this summer! Sex and the City is not among them. Here are a few highlights:
Indiana Jones and the Hot Twink
Will Indy finally give up on the ladies and indulge in the love that dare not speak its name with a reckless young pupil named Mutt? Was Indy’s fear of snakes just a Freudian denial of his true feelings? Hopefully, the new move will explain it all.
The Incredible Suck
Marvel and Edward Norton give us the movie no one asked for. Well, it’s the thought that counts.
We Are the Dark Knights Who Say “Ni!”
I try to explain to Michael and Adam that when two grown men who wear makeup and costumes are obsessed with each other and engage in a twisted relationship of power and prowess, it might just be kind of gay.
Enjoy! Thanks for listening!
Podcast Episode 3: In Bed with Adam, Chance and Iron Man

Due to scheduling conflicts, this week’s podcast was recorded bright and early Sunday morning, allowing Adam (aka Atragon) to stay in bed in Arkansas, and me to stay in bed in Los Angeles. I was wearing my He-Man “I have the power!” boxer shorts. Adam...not so much. But we needed to discuss Iron Man, so we woke up and got the job done. So if you’re feeling a little iron deficient, tune in and hear what we thought of the new movie. Warning! There have never been so many spoilers in the history of the world. I checked. Here are a few highlights:
Brokeback Iron Man
The special relationship between Tony Stark and Jim Rhodes is a central theme in the new movie...as I see it, anyway.
These Shoes Suck...These Shoes Rule
Gwyneth runs for her life in fabulous heels. Gay fanboys in the audience cheer! Straight fanboys roll their eyes.
Don’t Ask, Don’t Yell
I’ve heard better military dialogue in Falcon bootcamp videos. Adam says we should just accept what we’re given and be grateful. Adam is a communist.
Enjoy! Thanks for listening!
Podcast Episode 2: Doctor Who 101

So you’ve been meaning to catch up on 45 years of Doctor Who so you can jump on board the Tardis and enjoy Season Four of the new series. But you were too busy playing games and goofing off and kissing boys to do your homework! Never fear! Doctor Who experts Nick (aka Havoc) and Adam (aka Atragon) are here to give us a crash course on the Doctor. After this informative and entertaining re-cap, you’ll be ready to geek out with the rest of us.
Doctor Who 101 includes:
Who History
Can you name all the Doctors? And the capital of Rhode Island?
Time Lord, Gay Icon
The gays love the Doctor. But why? Could it be for his frequent flyer miles?
Dalek Reproduction
Squishy, squidy Dalek love? Or full-armor tank-on-tank action. Adam explains how it works.
Enjoy!
Podcast Episode 1: Han’s Package Strikes Back!
Or Is that a light saber in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?
I’m proud and terrified to present the first episode of the Fanboys of the Universe podcast. Joining me for this installment are Johnny (aka Razz-Bel), Allen and Nick (aka Havoc). Together, we defend Eternia from the evil forces of…sorry, wrong show. Together, we discuss the latest news in toys, comics and entertainment and indulge in general fanboy silliness.
This week’s topics include:
King Grayskull
If it’s wrong to love the ancestral origin of He-Man, then I don’t wanna be right.
The G.I. Joe Movie Cast
Should be the G.I. Don’t Know Who These Actors Are Movie Cast. But that’s okay, we figure it out.
Torchwood Season 2 Finale
Beware, minimal spoilers are discussed. To keep it vague, let’s just say that if something bad happens to you, you might as well be in Captain Jack’s arms when it does.
“Special delivery! Oh look! It’s a big package from Han Solo!”
Fanboys of the Universe takes a long, hard, rigid look at the controversial torture scene from The Empire Strikes Back. Apparently, President Bush isn’t the only nerf herder who is partial to torture.
Enjoy!
