Where’s Maxxie?!

American remakes are sort of a guilty pleasure of mine. I even liked the American Spaced. But one thing I don’t like is American teenagers. They’re obnoxious. And they walk really slowly through crosswalks, playing Angry Birds and sexting. I ran over three this week alone. But I do like British teens, because they fight evil wizards and are basically pure of heart, even when they’re doing a lot of drugs and having sex. Here’s a trailer for the upcoming American version of Skins, based on the controversial series about oversexed and overdosed teens in the UK.

If there’s an American version of Maxxie, the gay kid, it’s not apparent in the trailer, but there is some hot girl-on-girl action. That’s because America loves lesbians as much as they hate gay men. If gay marriage were only between two women, America would vote for it in a heartbeat. And I think it’s probably a safe bet the US version of Tony will probably never give a rubbish blowjob to Maxxie, if there is a Maxxie. There had better be a Maxxie.

The US version of Skins premieres on MTV in January 2011.

No Maxxie?! Aigh! Maybe they’ll bring gay boys in the third season, like the British version brought in lesbians.

Johnny, you may or may not like the British series. I didn’t like it at first, then the characters really pulled me in. It’s still high school melodrama, but it’s surprisingly touching.

No Maxxie. Originally there was going to be a character named Teo, who would’ve been the american Maxxie, but he is now Tea, a lesbian. Too bad. I think you hit the nail on the head though, american audiences can’t handle a gay male character, lesbians go down much easier.
Although I do remember one or two teen dramas that successfully represented the boys. I loved Ricky from my so called life.(unfortunately that show was cancelled too soon) And dawsons creek was popular among the kids

I’ve never seen the UK “Skins”, but this looks awful.  A clear case of “trying too hard.”  That it’s being produced by MTV should be the first indicator of its quality.  The network that gave birth to “My Super Sweet 16” and “Jersey Shore” gets no benefit of any doubt.

Maybe it’s my age, but really don’t see the point in watching 20-somethings playing teen-somethings getting all MA-rated in their shenanigans.

Sadly, last I heard, there is no Maxxie. The “Maxxie” character in the US version is now a Lesbian cheerleader named “Tea”. :-\
