“Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” Performs on GMA

On Good Morning America this morning, Bono and the Edge introduced a song from Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. Performed by Reeve Carney (Peter Parker/Spider-Man), “Boy Falls From the Sky” is reportedly a Peter Parker solo, revealing his state of mind after accepting his powers. Even after listening to it a few times, I’m not sure that’s entirely clear. But I will withhold judgment until I see the show or listen to the full soundtrack. You can see the performance below, at least until the video is taken down:

You can also watch interview segments with Reeve, the U2 boys and director Julie Taymor here and here.

Spider-Man:Turn Off the Dark begins preview performances on November 14 in New York and will officially open December 21. Tickets go on sale starting tomorrow.

Dull- I think they cast that guy for his physical type. And emo bangs.
Spider-Man the Musical is just a tragic idea, anyway.

As a Spider-man collector for the last 30 years of my life, I can safely say that this production is a BAD idea….why did they think Spider-man and a musical would go together?

I have a soundtrack for a London Spidey stage show that was a benefit for a disabled children camp, and that had some interesting moments, but this just makes me think of the old ‘Spider-man Rocks’ show from Universal Studios Hollywood.

Hmm. The song is a bit too “generic rock” for my taste. Sad, I was hoping for something more from Bono and The Edge. Hopefully the rest of the soundtrack will be an improvement?

As much as I’d like to be proven wrong, I can’t shake the feeling this show is going to be a giant train wreck.
