Believe it or not, sometimes I get pop culture premonitions. I swear. For instance, V has been on my mind a lot lately, and I recently had a very heated argument over what the “V” in V actually stands for. In the old series, “V” stood for “victory,” plain and simple. In the new series, the Visitors are branded as “V’s” right away. This has caused me more than a little aggravation. Then, a few days ago, I had one of my premonitions and realized, “They’re going to do a switcheroo!” And sure enough, in the season finale, Father Jack takes to the pulpit and delivers a sermon on standing up against the Visitors. This could have been a rousing, triumphant moment, but the actor who plays Father Jack is so bland, it never made it past “ho-hum” on the excitement scale. However, I was extremely excited, because I finally felt vindicated in my unwavering commitment to the “V for victory” camp. It’s nothing compared to the declaration of “V..for victory” in the original miniseries (which I still get choked up about), but I’ll take what I can get. For your consideration:
“With love, hope and faith, we can overcome anything. Who among you will join me? Let ‘V’ no longer stand for ‘Visitor.’ Let ‘V’ stand for ‘victory.’”
