Quote of the Week: Old Possum’s Book of Murderous Cats

I know I already extolled the virtues and awesomeness of Dex-Starr the Raging Feline in this week’s Comics Load, but I couldn’t let the week pass without honoring him with Quote of the Week. There are so many things to love about Dex-Starr, not even counting the fact that he wears his Red Lantern ring on his tail. Come on! I suppose I’m a little biased because I actually had a badass cat growing up. I do NOT tell pet stories, and I usually feign death when someone else starts to tell one, so I’ll just say this. My cat, Silver, who was by my side for 16 years, was a fierce, loyal and sometimes lethal protector. God help the stranger who ventured a little too close to what Silver considered a reasonable distance. Many a repairman swore never to return to our house as long as “that cat” was still there. I got him when I was four, and he died when I was in college, but I like the idea that maybe he just got a Red Lantern ring, and now he’s off protecting some other kid or planet somewhere. So, in honor of Silver and Dex-Starr, I give you the Quote of the Week:
“I find one who hurt you. I kill. I good kitty.”
-Dex-Starr, Green Lantern #55
I have always been a cat person. I grew up with dogs only because my mother is allergic to cats, but the rapport I have with cats is kind of frightening sometimes.

..Even though my father “hated” cats, as a child, I brought a kitten home and the family pets (2 Siberian Huskies)took the kitten as “part of the family” That was one confused cat. Chased off the mail man once…lol…
