Sometimes, just out of nowhere, I’ll think of something funny that Carrie Fisher has written or said, and I’ll sort of burst out laughing, often accidentally spraying spittle on those around me. This is expecially embarrassing during otherwise quiet or somber moments. But that’s the odd effect Carrie has on me. The most recent sound bite that made me chortle is a quip Carrie has related many, many times. It still kills me, though. Mainly because it speaks to an insecurity that all smart asses share, I think.
“There was no way that I thought I was going to get the part, because the last line in the script said, ‘Princess Leia stands at the end of a long hallway, and she is staggeringly beautiful.’ And I crossed off the -ly and beautiful and felt more comfortable about my description.”
