Quote of the Week: Glass Houses 101

By Chance

My new television obsession is The Ricky Gervais Show on HBO. It’s an animated interpretation of the podcasts featuring Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington. Topics range from the mundane to the ridiculous, and at the center of every conversation is Karl Pilkington and his mad, misinformed or bizarre philosophies. In the most recent episode, Ricky and Stephen try to explain the saying “People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones” to Karl, who, for some reason, has such a literal mind that metaphors mean nothing to him. So, instead of finding the meaning in the saying, he just starts making up extremely literal, even practical, words of advice for people who might actually live in glass houses. Here’s his most profound, our Quote of the Week:

“People who live in a glass house have to answer the door.”
-Karl Pilkington, The Ricky Gervais Show

I wish I had a clip of this scene to share with you, because it is truly uproarious. There’s a brief preview clip here. And below is a quick trailer giving the basic premise of the show and a few choice sound clips. If you have access to HBO, you must start watching this show, or listen to the podcasts on iTunes. The Ricky Gervais Show airs on Fridays at 9/8c on HBO.

Don’t freak out…but I think Ricky Gervais is kind of…hot. But then I always find funny guys sexy.

Oh boy.. I wasn’t allowed to watch that clip because Im in the UK (???) but I found it on Youtube anyway.
Yeah.. I still find Ricky smug arrogant and up himself. I didn’t mind Extras too much, that was bearable but Im not sure I could watch this show without feling the need to thump the little cartoon version of the guy.
