Right on the heels of Fox announcing the cancellation of venerable animated hit King of the Hill, ABC teased us with the possibility of picking it up. Personally, I hope they do. I’ve always thought it was greatly underappreciated by the masses. And if I’m praising a show about a Republican family in Texas, you know it has to be good. I love all the characters, and as The Simpsons and Family Guy became more bizarre and surrealistic, it was reassuring to tune into King of the Hill for a coherent plot and actual character development. I have many favorite episodes, like Bobby‘s first kiss with LuAnn‘s plastic beautician’s head; Bill‘s psychotic breakdown and subsequent cross-dressing jag; the family’s trip to gothic New Orleans; and anything with the Manger Babies. But since it’s November, I thought I’d choose one from my favorite Thanksgiving episode. From the Season 5 episode “Spin the Choice,” I offer up Peggy‘s explanation of the highly complex new game she’s invented for the family and neighbors to play on the holiday:

“You can choose to spin or you can choose to choose. If you choose to spin, you can land on spin, or choice, or lose a spin, or lose a choice, or free spin, or free choice or spin again.”
-Peggy Hill

I use this line as shorthand now, whenever I have to explain anything. It really comes in handy and makes people sorry they asked.

“That boy ain’t right.” No, no I ain’t.
