20 Fanboy Questions with Hadrian

Boxers, briefs or commando?
Briefs. I like to find things where I left them.

DC or Marvel?
I am a True Believer, so make mine Marvel. My first comic was Spider-Man 2099. That led to other Marvel titles. I only have enough brain for one complex, intricate, mind-numbing continuity. I mean, have you ever even tried to map out the Summer-Grey family tree?! After that, I just didn’t have enough brain power to get into DC and its never-ending Crises.

Last movie you stood in line to see?
I stood in line for Salt. It was okay, but not worth the line. I can’t wait for TRON Legacy and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Black Swan is looking mighty powerful, too.

Video game you’ve spent the most hours playing?
I’ve put a lot of hours into World of Warcraft in the last five years. I’ve also become a Kingdom Hearts fan and sunk many, many hours into completing every detail of those games.

Most played song on your iPod?
At 617 plays, “Precious Box” by George Michael. The song is about the addiction to fiction and sacrificing too much for it.

Movie line you quote the most?
“God dammit!” - Ripley, Aliens

Wolverine famously said: “I’m the best there is at what I do. But what I do best isn’t very nice.” What are you best at?
Engineering and seduction.

Favorite geek-out activity?
Talking about comics, video games, movies, gadgets—anything that invokes a passion for the lore, detail and envisioning of the future—knowing I’m not alone in my fascinations.

If you could have a complete collection of any toy line in history, what would it be?
Lego Technic!

What’s something about you that no one would suspect?
I love Yacht Rock—that cheezy brand of 70s and 80s lite-soft-pop-rock. Think Toto, Kenny Loggins, Michael McDonald and Christopher Cross.

Best comic book title right now?
Sorry Marvel, but Dynamite’s The Boys is damned addictive. Porky by Class Comics is good too, but new releases are too rare.

Which previous Fanboy of the Month would you ask on a date?
Paul. He has the kind of high-energy, fun personalty combined with an in-depth love for comics that makes for a fun encounter. It would be a platonic geek-date thing. HIt a comics shop and blow some dough on stacks, find a coffee shop and compare comics loads. If we both walked away with a love for a new comic we introduced to each other, I’d say that’s a grade-A mutual geekgasm.

What’s your dream cross-over event?
The Phoenix vs. DC.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done to impress a guy?
I was after this beefy, handsome, fun guy I hooked up with in a public place by accident. He wasn’t out and led a very down-low lifestyle. So, I went to church, met his wife and family, sang a few hymns, then trapped him in the deacon’s closet. I impressed upon him that I would go to great lengths to blend into his life to keep getting a taste of him…good memories.

Name a personal hero and what you’d say if you got to meet him/her.
Alfred Kinsey. He saw the true underbelly of human sexuality—the raw, sexual nature and the extremes we will go to in order to experience that special feeling. I’d like to glean his thoughts and opinions on the things he didn’t publish, because they were too controversial for their time—more so than his Reports already exposed in the ‘40s.

What do you value most in your friends?
Loyalty. Humor. Honesty.

Which cartoon character are you most like?
Donatello from TMNT, Panthro from Thunder Cats and Man-at-Arms from He-Man—the guys who invent the technology and fiddle with gadgets.

What are you most likely to do at a comic convention? Shop, go to panels, meet artists or check out cute guys in tights?
Go to panels, where cute guys in tights are hanging out—like the “Gays in Comics” panel where I met several cute Fanboys of the Universe.

What’s the best thing about being gay?
How easy it is to find prey.
grin

Why did you agree to be a Fanboy of the Month?
It’s very flattering and exciting to be compared to the adorable guys on FBOTU—and I hope to show off a beefier kind of geek.

Bonus Question

Which Star Wars quote best describes your last sexual encounter:

“You’re all clear, kid! Now let’s blow this thing and go home!”
“Look at the *size* of that thing!”
“There is good in him. I’ve felt it.”
“I look forward to completing your training. In time, you will call me master.”
“I thought that hairy beast would be the end of me.”
“Control, control…you must learn control.”
“Put that thing away before you get us all killed!”

“There is good in him. I’ve felt it.”
A special cub and I spent some time together over the last year. We did a lot of exploring—and though I worry I’ve gotten too jaded to believe any man could be “good enough,” I have gone to some special places with this fella, and there are damn good things in him.
