Lots of FBOTM activity this week. If you follow FBOTU on Facebook, you may have read about me trying to rope November 2009 FBOTM Jake into going to the Hard Heroes 7 benefit with me on Sunday. He turned me down with the geekiest rejection line ever:“I can’t. I’m running a D&D game on Sunday, and the characters are at a crucial junction.” Naturally, this both disappointed and aroused me. Next, it was time to book studio space and a photographer for the September FBOTM shoot. Then, of course, my September recruit went AWOL, which happens every damn time I come close to trapping a bear. But then I managed to book a certain Fanboy of the Year for a special Halloween shoot, so that cheered me up immensely. Finally, I spent a few hours reviewing and choosing some never-before-seen shots of all our 2010 guys for the 2011 Fanboy of the Month Calendar.
And then there’s August Fanboy of the Month Matt. It’s been a couple of weeks now since Matt’s shoot, and I’m still smitten. Judging by the hits and clicks, quite a few of you are smitten, too. I like the word smitten. Smitten. Anyway, after I gushed and drooled over Matt on FBOTM Friday last week, I got to catch up with him and see how he’s taking the attention and stardom. He said, “That thing you wrote about having a crush on me was funny.” I just laughed and said, “Oh yeah…thanks…” as I continued scribbling his name all over my Trapper Keeper. Don’t worry, Matt, there’s only a couple of more weeks in August, then I’ll be making some other guy wildly uncomfortable. Occupational hazard. Just sit back and enjoy the ride!
