20 Fanboy Questions with Ben
Boxers, briefs or commando?
Calvin Klein briefs. I’m a creature of habit, been wearing the same brand/style for years.
DC or Marvel?
I got all my brother’s comics when he got tired of them, and they were all Marvel. So I grew up reading old issues of X-Men, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four and Wolverine. Then I started collecting and reading them on my own.
Last movie you stood in line to see? Iron Man 2, I think. I’m looking forward to seeing The Social Network and the new Harry Potter.
Video game you’ve spent the most hours playing? Halo comes in first. God of War would be second. I never find these things on my own, though. I start off watching friends play, then always get hooked.
Most played song on your iPod?
“Telephone” by Lady Gaga and Beyonce.
Movie line you quote the most?
“It’s a fact, sure as day follows night, sure as eggs is eggs, sure as every odd-numbered Star Trek movie is shit.” -Tim, Spaced
Wolverine famously said: “I’m the best there is at what I do. But what I do best isn’t very nice.” What are you best at?
I’m pretty good at giving massages. I took a class in college, then did some training off and on after that. The power of touch can do amazing things in terms of healing and personal connection.
Favorite geek-out activity?
I’ve spent a lot of time playing video games, but it’s always with friends, so I don’t feel so guilty about doing it. I like hitting thrift stores and finding old comics that people throw out and give away. I never find anything valuable, but I don’t mind, since I like to read them and carry them around with me. Having a backpack full of comics is pretty geeky, right?
If you could have a complete collection of any toy line in history, what would it be?
Transformers. It would be cool to have all the original Star Wars toys, too.
What’s something about you that no one would suspect?
I’m very loyal, probably too much. Once I become friends with someone, it’s hard to get rid of me.
Best comic book title right now? X-Factor is really good right now. Old Man Logan was good, too.
Which previous Fanboy of the Month would you ask on a date?
Sam (February 2010). He’s really cute, seems fun, plus he’s a Star Wars fan. I can get really shy around guys, though, so it would probably take me a while to ask him out.
What’s your dream cross-over event?
That’s a tough one. Maybe Harry Potter and the X-Men?
What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done to impress a guy?
I was invited by this guy to a formal event, but didn’t have a suit. So, I borrowed one, but it was too big. So, I safety pinned it all over to make it fit. Then about halfway through the evening, I started losing safety pins. The whole evening just got crazier and crazier, and all I could think about was my suit falling off.
Name a personal hero and what you’d say if you got to meet him/her.
I’d like to meet Obama and Lady Gaga, at the same time. I think the three of us could work some stuff out.
What do you value most in your friends?
Compassion and humor.
Which cartoon character are you most like?
I’m a bit like Brendon Small from Home Movies.
What are you most likely to do at a comic convention? Shop, go to panels, meet artists or check out cute guys in tights?
You can usually find me digging around in the $1 bins underneath the tables, buying stuff no one else wants.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Good question. Something fun. I don’t want to sit in a cube all day. No one does, I suppose. But I really, really don’t.
Why did you want to be a Fanboy of the Month?
I love the site and I wear my FBOTU t-shirt all the time. I thought it looked like fun, but it took me a while to sign up.
Bonus Question
Which Star Wars quote best describes your last sexual encounter:
“You’re all clear, kid! Now let’s blow this thing and go home!”
“Look at the *size* of that thing!”
“There is good in him. I’ve felt it.”
“I look forward to completing your training. In time, you will call me master.”
“I thought that hairy beast would be the end of me.”
“Control, control…you must learn control.”
“Put that thing away before you get us all killed!”
“Look at the *size* of that thing!”
I was hoping there’d be a different bonus question by now. All of these are really embarrassing!
