Coming soon to HBO, Hung is about a well-endowed high school basketball coach and father that the show’s creators compare to Spider-Man - “an average guy who gets in touch with his innate super powers.” Husband and wife creative team Dmitry Lipkin and Colette Burson, both behind The Riches (FX), brought Hung to HBO’s Sue Naegle for her first development deal as network president.
The network ordered ten episodes of the show, starring The Punisher star Thomas Jane. “It has its sexual moments, but the show is very much about what’s happening in the country, how people are trying to survive using what God has given them,” Lipkin said.
I wonder if we will get to see the actual endowment of the actor through out this show. Otherwise why bother?
I have a feeling it’s going to be a lot of teasing and bulging codpieces, kind of like how they handled Dirk Diggler’s fabled unit in Boogie Nights. Hopefully, this will be a more entertaining use of a gigantic fake endowment.
I don’t get it. Being well endowed is a super power now?
Yes. Now it’s up to you to save the world!
I do think the well-endowed have a certain responsibility to share their gifts with the world. I realize that sounds very selfish and ignores their right to privacy, but I’ve just taken a lot of cold medicine and it makes perfect sense to me.

Traditionally, such an effort merely gets one branded as a whore.
And crabs.
I like Thomas Jane, but the concept of this series just seems… dumb. Of course, it wouldn’t be the first time I said that about something that I ended up liking, and I don’t get HBO anyway.
I was talking to someone else about this show the other day, and he said, “It sounds like a retelling of Weeds or Breaking Bad.” So I guess it’s an archetype now, really: simple, suburban parents go to extraordinary (or illegal) lengths to provide for their families.
Everybody’s favorite ex-lesbian space cadet Anne Heche has been added to the cast. She replaces Kristin Bauer as the main character’s ex-wife. They’ll reshoot the scenes of the pilot that involve her character. No word yet on if Celestina will appear in a supporting role.
it does sound an awful lot like Weeds. Don’t get me wrong, i love the show, but it’s annoying when one idea for a show works, so then four or five other similar shows start, because then the magic of the first one isn’t really there for them. sometimes it can ruin the magic of the first one. oh well, guess we will see.
Did anyone watch the premiere? I thought it was good. Thomas Jane was very believable, and I always love Jane Adams. It was a little more tragic than I was expecting. I kind of thought it would be more glossy, like Weeds. But there was something sort of low-rent about it that matched the environment and characters really well. Plus, I thought the writing was smart and crisp.
I thought it was clever that they talked about his endowment only in the vaguest terms. They didn’t show it or even pretend to show it through his clothes or anything. They never mentioned actual numbers, just kept calling it “big” and “huge.”
