British singer Boy George is facing a possible jail sentence after he was found guilty of falsely imprisoning a male escort at his home in London. The former Culture Club frontman, real name George O’Dowd, was convicted of chaining Audun Carlsen to a hook in a bedroom at his east London apartment after suspecting him of tampering with his computer.
Norwegian Carlsen accused the singer of beating him with a metal chain as he tried to escape from the property. The model had earlier posed for naked photos at the apartment - but fell out with O’Dowd when the singer accused him of trying to get copies of the pictures from his computer. O’Dowd admitted handcuffing Carlsen but claimed he had a legitimate reason to detain the model.
A jury at London’s Snaresbrook Crown Court returned the guilty verdict on Friday. Judge David Radford told O’Dowd: “This is a case where custody is the more likely option.”
