Suggesting that portraying a homosexual may no longer carry the public relations burden that it once did, E! Online disclosed Wednesday that the latest teen heartthrob, Robert Pattinson, will be seen in a love scene with his male co-star, Javier Beltran in the forthcoming film Little Ashes, in which Pattinson plays a young Salvador Dali and Beltran, the author Federico Garcia Lorca.

Ugh. Maybe it’s because I’ve been on edge lately, or maybe it’s because everything is getting on my last gay nerve, but this whole machinery is getting so predictable. First, the shocking revelation that a hot Hollywood actor is going to play a gay character, then lots of articles written on the subject, then an Oprah interview where the actor says it was weird and uncomfortable, then blah blah blah. Plus, by all accounts, Dali wasn’t even gay. So what’s up with that?

Call me when he takes it up the ass or learns how to get semen out of an Egyptian cotton duvet cover.

I am always amused that there are no actual gay actors in Hollywood to take on these roles.

I’m very enthusiastic about this movie!  Lorca and Dali had such an interesting relationship, and the influence Buñuel had over Dali and his attitude changes towards Lorca are really reflected in his work…. too bad Lorca had such a tragic ending though.
