I keep forgetting that not everybody in the world analyzes imagery as much or as automatically as I do.
The issue is not the imagery, but that the imagery is divorced of narrative; there is no reason for her to assume any of those specific roles.

Christina never shot out of the gate like Britney did because she didn’t traffic in cheap, Lolita-esque imagery to sell her albums. Even when she DID go all slut-bomb on us, she did it on her terms and didn’t hide her look behind some “but I’m really a virgin” nonsense. She freely admitted she enjoyed it. She didn’t play into the Madonna/whore fantasies that so many people have.
“In her sexually driven debut single, Aguilera begins the song as a sexually repressed young woman stating that she feels like she’s been “locked up tight for a century of lonely nights,” and that she is waiting for sexual release. She then sees a young man who sexually arouses her, making her exclaim, “My body’s saying let’s go.” However, even though her hormones are “racing at the speed of light”, she realizes “my heart is saying no.” Nevertheless, Aguilera offers herself to the man by stating, “If you wanna be with me, baby there’s a price to pay, I’m a genie in a bottle, You gotta rub me the right way.”
The song’s lyrics caused minor controversy at the time, as it was felt by some that Aguilera was too young to be singing such relatively suggestive lyrics, particularly as her music was marketed to young girls. The song was censored in some markets with tamer lyrics, in which Aguilera sings “you gotta treat me the right way” instead of “you gotta rub me the right way.” The censored version was played in preteen-oriented markets such as Radio Disney.”
Nothing Lolita-esque about that.

Never mind the fact that Christina has the far superior voice in every way imaginable. Britney wins our attention because she goes out clubbing without underwear and lets everybody know it at every opportunity.
Britney receives more attention by merit. Despite her superior vocal ability, Christina has not sold nearly as many albums. All the attempts to detract from the talent of Britney does not change that.
