She looks great, but the actual video is too much of a Toxic rehash for me. I’d do the guy.
I’m anxiously awaiting Christina’s new video for “Keeps Gettin’ Better.” Word on the street is that she got Peter Berg to direct it. Bitch needs to fly and scale fences.
The video is fantastic, even if the chauffer bit is completely stolen from the opening sequence of Wanted. Britney looks really good, and she obviously got back into major shape. The song is pretty dumb from a lyrical standpoint...I lost count of the number of times she said “womanizer” after about 243. However, the electro-sleaze arrangement works wonderfully with her rather limited vocal range.
I didn’t catch the video but I’m always pleased when people acknowledge she has a limited vocal range. An ex of mine would get personally offended when I would comment that without a vocoder Britney wouldn’t sound good at all.

Yeah, don’t let the hardcore Britney fans hear you say that.
Seriously, I know Christina fans can be awful at times, but there’s a huge chunk of Britney’s fans who are downright ravenous. It’s like getting attacked by a group of piranhas.
I sort of have a like / dislike sentiment towards Britney. While I think she has some pretty catchy songs like Womanizer and felt bad for her in 2007, I’m kind of annoyed that she built an entire [super successful] career on lip-synching. She’s not really even the one in the driver’s seat of that career. So many folks are pulling the strings; making the decisions for her. MTV are always up her arse too. And don’t even get me started on the Britney documentary coming up in November. I hate that she’s doing that days before her album drops.
Mainly I follow her career and music because, as a Christina fan, you can’t escape the comparisons. She’s always being brought up. You would think that something would change after 10 years of the two of them being in the business. (Well, longer, but you know what I mean) Nope. So… a long time ago, I accepted the fact that Britney is forever going to be intertwined with Christina. I’ve even embraced it somewhat.
I was an assistant manager at a local Sam Goody store (remember those?) back when Britney and Christina were still on their first albums. Mothers would come into the store all the time to pick up a CD for their daughters. CDs, for those of you who don’t know, were what people bought before iTunes was invented. Anyway, they would always ask which one was better to buy, Britney or Christina. I would always say something to the effect of “Well, Britney gets more attention and she’s more popular, but Christina is hands down a more talented singer. She doesn’t need production gimmicks to make her sound good. But all of your daughter’s friends are probably grooving on ‘Baby One More Time.’” It was a very tactful way of saying “Do you want popular or do you want good?”
I like the video and it’s a nod to her successes in a way and also to her rather “split” personality when she is not taking meds or whatever she does to stay in control. It’s a fun video and nice to see she is alive and dancing with some fun. The song grew on me. Didn’t like it at first but now that they re-worked it is kick ass. Can’t imagine how many drag queens will be doing this song (and Christina for that matter).
Britney has always been more of a performer than singer and I take her for that. I don’t expect her to belt out tunes like a proper singer. Now with that said, can’t wait for Christina’s video!

While this isn’t the video, I thought this was pretty neat. (not the best quality though, sorry)
This is Christina performing Keeps Gettin’ Better—live—in London for the ‘Africa Rising’ charity gig, which was held at Royal Albert Hall. She’s got some comic-ish pop art playing in the background.
She looks like she stole her costume and hair from Madonna’s “Sticky & Sweet” look, which makes me think she stole the carnival ambiance from Madonna’s Girlie Show tour. Plus, she looks like she’s completely bored and just wants to get out of there. For someone who isn’t using their lungs to actually support any singing, you’d think she’d have a little more energy for the dance moves.
