So there’s been a lot of controversy surrounding Christina’s VMA performance, what with Lady GaGa’s fan base saying that Christina stole her look.  What do you guys think?

I have to admit that I never heard of Lady GaGa until Razz-Bel’s post about her, where he linked to one of her songs.  It’s funny, because even before the VMAs, I commented on how I thought Lady Gaga’s singing voice was somewhat reminiscent of Christina’s in that ‘Just Dance’ video. smile

I dunno.  To me, except for the hair style, they don’t look all that much alike.  I think X-Tina was going for the Superheroine look, which would make sense considering the lyrics to the new song.

I friended Lady GaGa on Myspace, BTW.  I hope Christina’s reputation won’t be too damaged over this.

Never heard of Lady Ga Ga. X-Tina obviously has been borrowing from Felicia Hardy’s wardrobe LOL

I think the Christina’s outfit is more Black Cat than Lady GaGa.  It’s probably just a coincidence, although I’m sure Christina is aware of Lady Gaga.  I’m not a Gaga fan, really.  She has a good voice, but her songs don’t grab me.  Catchy, sure, but nothing I’d run out and buy.

I will admit, though, that I don’t think she’ll ever look as great as she did when she was the Andrews Sisters in the “Candyman” video.

i totally thought it was lady gaga at first going to do a duet w/ christina.

and when there was a recap of the performances it certainly looked more like lady gaga from afar.

i rather enjoy lady gaga she makes my day so much happier when i sing along to one of her songs. and for the most part christina too.  i did enjoy the new version of genie in a bottle.

Between the two? I’d pick Lady GaGa, but it’s probably just a coincidence. Christina, as stated above, was going for the superhero girl thing. But the hair, the voice, similar music…

I always thought Lady GaGa had a similar voice to Christina’s too. Should be interesting the next few months as both ladies promote their music more.

Also, if you go to Lady GaGa’s myspace one of her icons is superhero like by being similar to Miss Marvel with that lightning bolt going down the front of her body.

Yep, I’ve been posting on her page in defense of X-Tina for the last few days.  (in a nice way)  LOL  I’m on the second page of the comments right now (and also further back) under that dude who keeps advertising the T-Shirts.  Look for ‘Tally’.  That’s me.

Regarding the lightening bolt… see I thought that came from David Bowie since that’s one of the people she lists as her influences.  Then I thought I read that the hair was inspired by Debbie Harry of Blondie.

I agree, that’s a total David Bowie lightning bolt.  Her look is very much inspired by the glam era of Bowie and the New Wave.
