I’ve been trying to find the name of this song for a couple days now. It’s form the late 60’s or more likely the 70’s. It’s sung by a woman, has a really distinctive bass rhythm during the verse and has a lyric that says “your love takes me higher.” I’ve tried google the lyric but the Beloved song pops up instead and that’s not the one I want. If any one listens to 70’s music I’d really appreciate your help. Thanks.

The only thing that’s coming to mind is that scene from Ghostbusters II with the Statue of Liberty.. Higher and Higher sung by Howard Huntsberry but I’m pretty damn skippy that’s not what you’re after.

Just to be sure though, here are the lyrics

The song is “Higher and Higher” (full title “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher”), which has been covered numerous times by various artists.  It was originally done by Jackie Wilson in 1967.  Most likely, you are thinking of the Rita Coolidge version from 1977, which is one of her biggest hits.

Johnny is probably right, but here’s another one (you have to wait a bit for the line):

Wow.  Thanks for pointing that one out…I’m going to have to check more of her stuff out.  It’s disco-licious.

Cool, thanks. The Coolidge version was spot on, I had that bass line in my head for a while and now I know who the credit if I sample it. Also, the Cali Bee song wasn’t bad either. Again, Thank you.
