I got Beast man yesterday, but am still waiting on He-man..
Ironically I ordered He-man first and got all the confirmation emails, but hes not turned up.
Beast man was ordered later in the evening, I got no confirmation emails whatsoever, and he’s arrived safe and sound.
Its bizarre.
I am so tempted to make a Moss man, but it feels wrong to take him off the card..
I didn’t like the cards at first, but actually having them in your hand, theyre pretty neat. I like how compact they are.
Why Mattel couldn’t get this line in stores, I really don’t understand.. I think it’s sad.
But of course I am mostly saying that because the thoughts of a potential wave of 5 figures with a BAF Battle Cat would be like a happy dream you never want to wake up from.
A lot of fans have written in and posted online asking about the new bios for the MOTUC line and if they are the one true offical cannon for the property. The short answer is “no”. No version of MOTU is actually considered the one and only storyline.
There have been many different versions and backstories for many of the MOTU characters ranging from the original toy line, the Filmation series, the 1987 live action film, the 2002 series and toy line as well as new projects underway.
The idea behind the bios for the Classics line was to tip our hats to the fans and create at least one continuity which helped answer a lot of unanswered questions and tied up loose ends between different existing and sometimes contradicting tales. We do have a storyline and relationships fleshed out for most of the key characters. By the end of 2009, after enough characters have been introduced a lot of questions will be answered. (we ARE going somewhere with this and we think a lot of fans will be VERY happy with what will be revealed in the bios this year…).
But the true “cannon” for MOTU is really in fan’s hands. It is how we all played out the fantasies of He-Man vs. Skeletor in our childhood and on our toy shelves today. MOTU has always been an avatar designed to allow one’s imagination the freedom to create and play and invent new situations and stories. The stories fans create are just as real as the stories in the mini comics and in the animated series. The important thing is that they are all about the engaging characters of this world and the different situations they can be in.
While MOTUC line will continue to have well researched and fleshed out bios for characters, fans should always know that the imagination is limitless and so are the story possibilities for all of the heroes and villains of the worlds of He-Man and She-Ra.

PS: Yes, She-Ra is coming to the line. Look for the first POP figures to start early in 2010!
Hmm…very interesting. I do like the idea that the long, diverse history of MOTU means it’s open to interpretation to new artists and writers that come along. My own canon, as a kid, borrowed elements from every incarnation, plus a little Dynasty. So I’m more comfortable with them saying, “this is one idea” than “this is the final and only continuity.”
New figures on sale this Thursday! Wow! That was a quick month!
I know this is technically good news, but I still don’t like it. I hope they DO restock all the figures so this line isn’t seen as a scalpers dream come true.
As visitors may have seen, both He-Man and Beastman are now sold out on Mattycollector.com. We knew a few days ago we were running low and with only a few hundred units left, we wanted to close down sales so we can have just handful for NYCC and SDCC to help spread the word on this amazing toy line at the summer conventions. (after all, the more fans we can get, the more units we can sell and the more tooling dollars we can get to tool bigger and better figures!)
We won’t have every 2009 MOTU figure available at the shows, but we actually produced more of these two figures in particular to help gauge sales. And now that we have a good idea now of how many MOTU fans are out there we can adjust future figure production accordingly.
Skeletor goes on sale at 12:00 Eastern this Thursday. (as does the DCUC Adam Strange and Starfire 2 pack and the Infinite Heroes stands). We are also working hard to get a monthly subscription service up and running for MOTUC to take us through December. (at which point the subscription for 2010 will cover Jan- Dec figures of that year).
Finally, we are working very hard on getting an email customer service line up. Thanks for everyone’s patients while we get our ducks in a row on this one. But it is coming!
Things are looking really great ahead and we have a lot of surprises still in store, including a huge announcement on or around Feb 2nd. See you in the toy aisles!”
Ha! I noticed that, too. Poor Mattel. Proofreading aside, I really have no complaints so far. I mean, it would be nice to get POP stuff sooner than 2010, but the slow pace is kind of fun. It’ll last longer. I’m going to NYCC, so I’ll have to pick up a Faker or two…or three.
The subscription service will be nice, so there’s no angst or worry. As long as I can still order multiples, I’ll sing Mattel’s praises to the universe.
