I haven’t got a chance to watch the American version yet, though I did see some of the promos.  The characters feel a bit generic in comparison, but maybe they’ll grow on me.  I had to lol at this comment on YouTube: “STOP STEALING QUALITY BRITISH SHOWS.”

Pt 2 of the premier episode, not bad, though someone should save Sam Witwer’s eyebrows from the waxer, he looks a little ridiculous.

I did find myself a little mesmerized by his eyebrows.

I liked it. It’s growing on me. It’s deviating from the original in subtle ways, but that’s good. I ended up liking the lesbian sister subplot a lot.

I’ll keep watching.

I think it was even before Smallville that Sam discovered a love of manscaping:

While “Being Human” isn’t mentioned I found a list comparing some American remakes.

I think the more successful remakes are ones the truly adapt to the country they are remade in.

Which is why something like “The Office” US is a huge success while “Coupling” US was so lame.
There’s not much point in just retreading worn ground. I guess it’s a risk/reward thing. The potential for fortune is so tempting.

I’m late to this conversation, but here goes: I *love* the BBC “Being Human,” and I’m surprised at how much I’m enjoying the US version as well. Yes, the season 1 storylines are very similar, but it’s a quite faithful adaptation with some welcome changes (e.g. the aforementioned lesbian sister). My biggest gripe? Why do we have to have another pretty vampire with pouty lips whose idea of intensity is heavy breathing? I miss Aidan Turner! Still, I’m intrigued enough to keep watching.

Cheers,
Jeremy
