Grant Morrison seems pretty obsessed with Batman’s costume in Batman Forever. He called it “fruity” at Comic-Con, and now in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, he calls it “the gay disco armor.” He really needs to get some new jokes. The overall message about Batman’s flexibility as a character is interesting, though. Here are a couple of quotes:
“You look at the difference between the costume tights that Adam West wore and the gay disco armor that was in Batman Forever compared to the modern, militaristic thing that Christopher Nolan does. They are all completely different but they are all instantly recognizable as Batman.”
“Batman can take anything. You can do comedy Batman, you can do gay Batman…it all works. It’s something intrinsic to the character. It ‘s so strange and amazing.”
