The Westboro Baptist Church took time out of their busy schedule of protesting military funerals to protest ComiCon.  Which doesn’t make any sense, but don’t ask questions.  In response, a large crowd of con-goers (including Bender and Buddy Christ) were there as a counter-protest.  My personal favorite is that sign that says “ODIN IS GOD: READ THOR #5.”

This is why I adore geeks. 

Anyone who holds up a sign saying “Though I walk through a dark valley I shall fear no harm; the Dark Knight is by my side…” is a winner in my book!

Wish I was at the con this year. I would had loved to laugh at that silly group and chant the words on that sign in front of them.

I must admit, I thought that this was pretty awesome.  While normally I would recommend ignoring these “people” - acknowledging them just feeds into their insanity.

However, if you’re gonna do something then THIS is the way to go.  Gotta love a geek counterprotest!

Man, I so agree with you. They should be ignoring them, but just now and then you just have to point out to them just how silly they look to others in the hope they might catch on and come up with a better way to express themselves without going around and hurting the feeling of others. Let us hope this counterprotest did something to wake them up.
