I’ve been enjoying the recent Second coming storyline, and knew that a new X-Men series was on the way. From the advertisements for it I didn’t think much of it, but knew I’d be picking it up anyway to see what it was all about. Then I read that it was going to tie into some sort of Dracula storyline.

Oooookay…. still kind of on board even though I’m sick to death of having vampires shoved down my throat. (At least the Marvel variety don’t sparkle.)

And then today I saw one of the variant covers and my fanboy heart didn’t know what to think….

WTF!?

A vampire Jubilee? Spider-man, Electra, Blade and Magneto on the same team? Did they just throw darts at a Marvel Universe Wall chart?

This looks like a poster you’d get if you collected all the action figures depicted.

I like all of the ones they pick. Each one has had to deal with vampires in on form or another. Be they the common blood suckers, energy drainers, life force catchers or a host of others, each one has had to deal with a form of vampire in his or her career. It should be fun to see how it all turns out.

I could maybe see Spidey showing up just because he has a vampire connection through Morbius. Is this an actual team or just people showing up to guest star? I like my X-Men to be, I dunno, mutants maybe…

Sure I think vampires are fair game for the X-men, but when staring with a new series issue one, surely sticking to the core concepts, human/mutant relations and good mutants vs bad mutants would make more sense.

Was hoping Second coming would give the x-books much needed direction, but alas will stay away awhile longer.

I have a feeling that some executive somewhere in Marvel just commanded the staff to throw in vampires because that’s what the kids like reading about these days what with the Twilight and the True Blood.

Is the vampire storyline going to run across the X-Books or is it just sticking to the new relaunch title?

I think its going to be contained to the X-Men re-launch, but they’re releasing several one shots that have to do with the Curse of the Mutants storyline and it ties in with the beginning of Namor’s own series.

Namor: The First Mutant #1 & #2 - Ongoing series (Namor deals with underwater vampires. Yay?)
Curse of the Mutants: Storm & Gambit - One Shot
Curse of the Mutants: Blade - One Shot
Curse of the Mutants: X-Men vs. Vampires #1-3 - Limited Series
Curse of the Mutants: Smoke & Blood - One Shot

I collect the main Uncanny book, I can’t keep up with all these versions and cross overs, I almost dropped them all together, I miss the old days with only one X-men book.

How does this book fit in with Uncanny?

X-Men is such a pain.  I tried reading them again and there are just too many books, with too many styles, tones and storylines going on. I dropped them all except the one that Phil Phiminez is drawing.  It’s just a MESS!  I don’t know how anyone reads these and keeps them straight.  I don’t even know who some of these characters are.  Who are the two red heads?  The one with all the guns and the green lady?
