Bookstores love me.

I tend to read a lot so I buy A LOT of books when I do.

I bought like 3 of the Indiana Jones pulp novels.
The Crystal Skull novelization
Wicked and Son of a Witch
V: The Return
The Necroscope Series

Oooo…V: The Return. That sounds cool!

Wicked is one of my favorite books. It’s really a brilliant political thriller. There’s a passage towards the end where Elphaba talks about the nature of evil, and it’s inspired. I have the sequel, but haven’t started it yet.

We’re going to be launching a Fanboys of the Universe Book Club in another week or so! So stay tuned to find out what the first selection is going to be.

How quickly will you read all these books, anyway?

I dunno, it depends.  I finished the movie novelization of Iron Man in like a couple of hours.

Son of a Witch is just as good, plus there’s lots of gayness.

I’m fixing to start reading Twilight, my friend said I won’t be disappointed.  It’s being released as a movie in December.  I also bought The Watchmen to read it.  I also saw V: The Return when I went to the bookstore.  I didn’t know if it was a new novel or not.  I just skimmed the description on the back but it almost sounded like a novelization of the sequel to the mini-series.  Tell me if it’s good.  I freaking loved the miniseries.

Maybe we should make Watchmen the next FBOTU Book Club choice. I need to read it, too.

I’d totally back that up.  I need a really good excuse to get off my duff and read it already.

I was wondering if you have finished V: The Return yet? I’m a huge fan of that series (practically have all the lines of the first mini memorized) and wanted to know what you thoughts were.

I was actually pretty disappointed. I was okay with the idea of ignoring Final Battle and the weekly series, but Kenneth Johnson left so many questions unanswered about the original series characters. Where were Elias, Caleb, Steven, Christine & Robin? Why exactly did Diana keep Donovan alive all those years?

I just kept feeling like the plot wasn’t going anywhere and we spent a lot of time learning about new characters that really didn’t bring much to the story.

The second alien race and the ominous ending were good, though.

I need to pick up the new Maguire book one of these days.  Looks at least as good as Son of a Witch.  In between the trades that I pick up from the library, I’m reading The Elegance of the Hedgehog.  Not sci-fi, but really good.

I am currently reading the original 007 novels by Ian Fleming.  I am a huge Bond fan so it is interesting for me, as the books are set just after WWII, and not in the 60-Now (that the films are), so there is some mental gymnatics involved trying to figure out what the cars look like, and the clothing styles, but it is alot of fun.

I am currently reading “Moonraker”.  It was published in 1955 and has nothing really do to with the plot of the movie, at this point (1955) we are talking about the infancy of the space program.
