I’m going to start posting news items here concerning the new Doctor, as I find them. For instance, here’s an article with a pretty big spoiler about the Doctor’s new companion.
Yeah, I’ve heard that rumor. There are so many seemly conflicting tidbits floating out there that I’m just confuzzled. I don’t want to post spoilers here, but there are several alternate explanations that seem a little more plausible. However, this is Steven Moffatt we’re talking about here—the man loves screwing with our heads, and we love him for it.

What do you think? Too controversial?
Still don’t like Matt Smith but i imagine he’ll grow on me… maybe he’ll only last a series like Christopher Eccleston did… anyways the new companion sounds rather fun
There’s a new trailer on BBC1 tomorrow night (that’ll be Saturday 20th) shortly before 18.30 (then shown about 1915 on the BBC HD channel) for Season 5. Around a minute long, if you’re interested. Simulcasting with the website… (bbc.co.uk/doctorwho)
Let’s see. A Dalek, a floating head in a bubble, scary angel bitches and some lizard guy at the end. It is an interesting subtext, I think. While the previous companions have been sold on the wonder and beauty of traveling with the Doctor, this focuses much more on the horror and the screaming.
That was the 2D premiere of the 3D cinema trailer, and apart from a few upcoming monsters, it was nothing to write home about. Obviously it’s going to look a lot more impressive in 3D… but it showed very little/bordering on nothing about the new series, apart from the aformentioned baddies…
Heh, I was THIS close to getting the replica coat for x-mas, but my desire for PS3 got in the way. You should post pics up when you get it . I’m waiting to see Matt Smith in action before I condemn him like a lot of Tennant fans. I love me some David, but the Doctor is about change and evolution. So we’ll see.
Also, they’ll be showing the first episode of Matt Smith as The Doctor Saturday night at WonderCon here in the Bay Area! So excited!
The BBC Publicity Machine is in full swing for the new series, with the second trail widely available online, magazines and interviews going on everywhere since the press screening last week; several clips of the show have been aired, and the first minute will be available online at the BBC Doctor Who site and via the red button service from 6.25pm Saturday.
I *really* can’t wait for this one. I’ve even booked holiday from work to make sure it’s a nice uninterrupted evening. I’ve also stopped watching Doctor Who forums as the “fans” like to try and savage things before they’ve seen any more than 13 seconds of any of it; and that attitude really pees me off. Amusing that a show that thrives and depends on change and renewal has some really stuck in the past fans…
Saturday 3rd Aoril 6.25pm, BBC One and BBC HD. Allons-y!... oh, sorry… er… Geronimo!!
I’m trying to avoid spoilers. I remember how *gobsmacked* I was when Catherine Tate appeared in the Tardis at the end of season 2, so it’d be cool to have a few more surprises like that not spoiled. I already had some twat spoil something on a toy section of a doctor who forum, by complaining about someone else spoiling something, by posting with spoiler quotes, then he himself blew it by posting the info out in the open. twat..
Almost there, and I’m now *aching* for the show to return. I’ve seen enough clips to know I’m going to LOVE this!!
Matt and Karen have been everywhere this week (by bus, rather than erratic Police Box), and you should have seen my giant fanboy reaction to the new console room….
I dunno. I loved David Tennant’s stint as everyone’s favorite Time Lord. He is second only to the unbeatable Tom Baker. I guess I’ll find out in a couple of weeks when it finally airs on BBC America.
