Aigh! Time Lords!

Okay. I see where this is going. But I needed it to be less campy. For something so serious, I could have done without all the goofiness at the end.

I am grateful, though, that Donna hasn’t been left out.

And…um…the guy in the Demons previews is hot! Might have to start watching that.

Honestly, I liked the campyness. For dark stuff epic world crisis I have Torchwood…which I hope starts a new series soon.

I love the Master, he looked good in that pink dress. Beard and all. huh.

When I hear Time Lords in my head, The Power Ranger Time Force theme song plays in my head.

Torchwood - 26 December 2009 11:26 PM

yeah, I agree about the campiness.  But that last bit at the end with the Time Lords made up for it!

I think overall I was not crazy about it.  It just seems like they spent too much time on the buildup for the final episode.  I’m curious to see how they work everyone back in for DT’s last episode!

I agree about the set up, what really made it bearable was John Simm’s amazing performance. I should have found it annoying, but he really made it compelling and very entertaining. I love grand villain played well by an actor.

Do we know if we are getting all of the Dr Who Davis’ characters? I want at least a Captain Jack Cameo, Sarah Jane and Martha. Of course we know Donna is already a presence smile

I can’t believe I didn’t figure out the drumbeat = Time Lord heartbeat thing. Did anyone else have that figured out? It seems so obvious now.

Don’t know for sure about the rest of the Doctor’s friends and companions, but they’re all listed on the IMDB page for Part 2. So, we’ll see!

Didn’t figure it out myself, barely caught it when Timothy Dalton said it, and just now clicked with you pointing that out.

A teeny part of my brain is going “ooo Simm in a dress… wow he’s skinnier than he looks”

What’s sad is that it’s being drowned out by the part of my brain going “All the humans so that takes out Martha, Martha’s family, Mickey, Sarah Jane, and Gwen… but What about Mr. Cooper and Alonso? They’re not human they’re aliens. And what about Luke Smith? He’s only human in the most technical sense… and surely Mr. Smith and K-9 could have protected him and potentially Sarah Jane.”

It helped that they were listed on the IMDB page but i doubt they’ll show up.

aww now I miss Astrid again…

Torchwood - 26 December 2009 11:34 PM

I know most of who returns…and don’t want to spoil it for anyone who doesn’t know!

I will say out of the 3 you listed, only one is supposed to return.  And no Captain Jack :-(

They had better get started on new Torchwood soon!  If they can bring back Primeval, surely TW can return!

I read on After Elton that they did get approved for a series 4. I think it’s just a matter of getting production going. Read this not too long after CoM aired. Ratings were some of their best in the UK and here. So just a matter of well, time wink lol

I’m happy with one of the 3 I listed, but sad no Cpt Jack wink

Do we know who the lady in Wilfred’s vision is? Looks like that dead former Prime Minister lady.

Hmm wonder how accurate IMDB is on that listing.

Here I always thought the Master really just really liked this song by the Rogue Traders wink (I know it was used in the last series)

They could put the Master in Captain Jack’s coat, so he could sort of get a cameo. But it seems that Jack would be immune, since he’s a fixed point in time.

IMDB isn’t 100% reliable, but it could mean the characters are shown in flashbacks.

Thanks to everyone for taking part in the Viewing Party! We’ll have to do this again for Part 2.

P.S. One more thought. The Master specifically mentioned his father. Could Timothy Dalton be his father?

The Woman isn’t Harriet Jones.

As for returning assistants… don’t rule out anyone. at all… especially ones in RAF greatcoats. But I say nothing more.

Heeyy daddy!!

Sorry, couldn’t resist lol.

Can’t wait for next week. I honestly was entertained, I had read a brief non-spoiler review at The Beat that wasn’t too favorable but glad I liked the ep.

wow this is a much more popular thread than I thought it would be.

so any speculation on who ‘the woman’ is?
My money is on Romana. Especially after the end bit with the time lords and the time lady with them holding her head in her hands like she was ashamed of what they have become. It would make sense to be Romana, and I’ll be horribly disappointed if it’s not her (even though she isnt played by Lalla - but that would have made it totally obvious to old school fans, and she’s got to have gone through another regeneration by now)

Loved the Skeletor reference, and seeing Nina from being human as a cactus lady.

I think that she is a timelord as well.  Not wanting the Doctor to know that the timelords contiune so he keeps saving the universe makes sense.  I just wish they would show what happened to his “daughter” from the cloning episode.

Yeah I agree. I actually liked his daughter by the end of the ep. A true hero type. Wonder if it will be something that the Moffat era will follow up on.
