Oh lord. NPH plays the Music Meister in the upcoming October 23 episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold on Cartoon Network. I’m not familiar with Music Meister, so someone else will have to let us know if his evil power really is breaking out into showtunes.

There’s exclusive video here.

Heh.  I wouldn’t be surprised if they wrote the character specifically FOR Neil Patrick to play.

I just caught this on my DVR. Wow! Its so bad its good! If you haven’t seen it, you have to! It is unexplainable. This show is already campy, but this is way out there! But in a good way. if you’ve ever wanted to watch Gorilla Grodd, Aquaman, Green Arrow, Black Manta and Black Canary in a showstopping, leg-kicking line up, you have to check this out.  The whole thing is a big gay fanboy tribute. Neil Patrick Harris was excellent and I always love hearing him sing.  They sang about Arkham and even had a ballad about wanting Batman to love you as much as he loves fighting crime. I laughed so hard I cried. Cheers!

Edit: in a crazy coincidence, I just watched the episode “Legends” from the Justice League cartoon series. A character named “the Music Master” appeared who looked awfully familiar to Music Meister. Even had the gapped tooth and big red hair.  He had the same powers, but he was from an alternate Earth.  Even stranger, Neil Patrick Harris also voiced a character in this episode named “Ray Thompson” who turned out to be the true villain in th JL episode. 6 degrees of seperation, ha!

It’s just so dreadful. But I couldn’t stop watching. I’ve watched it 3 or 4 times now. The lyrics are the worst, even though most of the music is pretty catchy. NPH is great, as always. And all the singers do a fine job. I’m especially fond of Black Canary’s crazy vibrato. If they’d just hired a great lyricist, this could have been a classic, in a good way.

For once, I’m glad they didn’t make NPH’s character gay. Since he spent so much time straddling a flying musical note, it would have been too much. Too, too much.
