I love email. Especially when there’s a completely unexpected message that makes me happy. This morning I received an email from a-ha.com that lead singer Morten Harket’s new solo album is available for pre-order! Actually, since the email was translated from German, it read, “You. Go buy CD. Now.” Well, who am I to argue?
As I child I had a deep and crazy crush on Morten Harket. I had an a-ha poster on my bedroom wall. And he was the only celebrity (or boy of any kind) that inspired me to write his name over and over in my Trapper Keeper. Long, long before I had any clear concept of sexuality, and even longer before the idea of gay marriage became a reality, I knew I wanted to marry Morten Harket.
Years later, when I heard that civil unions became legal in Norway, I thought back to my obsession with Morten and wondered if it was a sign I should take a trip to Norway.
