When is Torchwood: Children of Earth going to air?! “Sometime in 2009” is a stupid answer. I can’t believe that a major network has no idea when to air a 5-part miniseries! Or why they won’t announce it!

What are they waiting for?

I just saw an ad for it on BBCA.  They said July 20th.

Ah now, extra treats are possible, and early treats are possible.  On BBC Radio 4 on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of July, there’s a three part Torchwood audio adventure - which I have no doubt at all will find their way onto filesharing networks fairly quickly.  If they don’t, I’ll accidentally put them on Megaupload and accidentally post the links to anyone who cares to PM me when I tell of my woeful upload accident.

In the UK, Torchwood airs on the week beginning 6th July, and I might - seeing as I’m exceedingly slow at times - accidentally upload those too if the little voices in my head ask me to… again, those little voices can be addressed by PM.

That was truly amazing. To be honest, though i am a big Dr. Who fan and have been hooked on Torchwood since the first ep, I didn’t have much hope for this. Being on BBC1, not BBC2 and over a week, months, one was lead to believe that it might not have been to good to be made into a full series, but WOW was I wrong.

It had perfect speed throughout and RTD’s scrip was spot. It was sharp and whitty and had me gagging for at the end. Bring on tomo!!!

Wow! Love it so far! Really good Jack and Ianto stuff. Really good Gwen and Rhys stuff. No mention of Owen or Tosh at all? Or did I miss it, besides, “We need a new doctor.”

Can’t wait for more!

There was a small Tosh/Owen ref in episode one, just as Gwen boots up the computer…

I didn’t see it all. But what I did, I didn’t like much. It was way too intense. The group felt too small, and now it’s smaller yet again.
I guess Torchwood is going to become one of those revolving cast shows.

I am completely fascinated by fan reaction to Children of Men.

As someone who couldn’t make it through the first series, then skipped the second entirely (though I heard the second was a marked improvement,) I have to say I absolutely loved Children of Men.  I thought it was the best sci-fi I’ve seen since BSG started to falter and everything the X-Files movies should have been.  Sure, there were a few plotholes here and there, but I was generally blown away.

That seems to have been the broad reaction as well.  Its ratings were fantastic and it got great reviews.  For casual viewers, they seem to have hit it out of the ballpark.

On the other hand, everything I’ve read seems to indicate that the show’s “fandom” absolutely hated it, for reasons I can’t go into without spoiling.  Just take a look at its Amazon reviews—these people are royally pissed.

It’s an interesting phenomenon:  At some point, a great many fans start caring more about the well-being of their favorite characters and continuation of an established formula than they do about seeing good stories.
