There’s something I’m confused about.

In ‘Genesis of the Daleks’, why doesn’t Davros the scientist look like the other members of his race, the Kaleds?  There was all this talk amongst the Kaled elite about ‘keeping the race pure’, so I don’t understand why they didn’t send this alien looking creature [Davros] to the Wastelands like they did with the Mutos.

Oh cool, so they do address that at some point then?

It was just a bit confusing, ‘cause they didn’t give all that much backstory on Davros in that one.

From Wiki

Horribly scarred and crippled for reasons that are never explained on screen, with only one functioning arm and one cybernetic “eye” mounted on his forehead, for much of his existence he depended completely upon a self-designed mobile life-support chair which enclosed the lower half of his body.

So his back story hasnt really been explained yet.
I loved the theory someone came up with that the research doctor from the Torchwood episode (guy who was shot in the head) might be Davros. But he really should remain alien when he makes his comeback.

A bit of history showing how he came about and how his experiments went wrong and disfigured him would be great but I expect we won’t see any origin. Sometimes not knowing the back story is better smile

Was this in Series 1 or 2?  I’m totally not remembering this if it’s Series 1. raspberry

K.  I’ll be on the lookout for him when I get to that point…  Which will definitely be soon, since I’m finally caught up with Series 4 Doctor Who and have more time now.  *dances* raspberry

Hey there metaldragon…

‘Genesis of the Daleks’ is the one I watched, but I don’t have the official DVD set.

Is that background info. on Davros mentioned in the commentary or something, because I don’t remember anyone explicitly saying that he was part of the Mutos.  (scarred relics of the Kaleds mutated by chemicals in the first century of the war who were then banished to the Wastelands)  If fact, when The Doctor and Harry are first confronted by the Kaleds, they are shown disgust when, at one point, they’re thought to be Mutos with some sort of advanced intelligence.

So I guess my question is:  Intelligence or not, why would the Kaleds not show similar disgust for Davros, him being [according to what you’re saying] an intelligent Muto and all?

Also, I seem to remember something about Davros taking living cells and treating them with chemicals to come up with the perfect final ‘mutant form’ of the Kaleds.
