Could be just a rumor, but Collider.com is reporting that Comedy Central has ordered 13 new episodes of Futurama!

I’ve been a little disappointed in the direct-to-DVD movies, because I think Futurama works best in an episodic format. So I would be very happy if this were true!

The problem with the movies is that I think they were designed to later be broken up into 4 episodes.  As a result, the plot threads don’t always work together.  I haven’t seen the last one all the way through, but I’ve seen the others.  Bender’s Game is by far the best of the bunch so far.  I agree that having stand-alone episodes is definitely the way to go, but I’ll still have to wait for DVD since I don’t have cable or plan to get it.
