There are tons of these! I was trying to collect the DC Universe figures, but only certain ones. I hate that they pack some weird choices with this line just so that you could build another guy. I really want the other parts to build Gorilla Grodd, but I don’t really want to get a Killer Moth figure. Figures like him are the reason people make fun of adult toy collectors. I just need Grodd’s Right arm and leg. His sculpt looks really good.
I can’t believe that about two months ago, I had Shazam in my hands and I put him back and said, “I’ll get him later.” Grrr! He’s not an easy find. Wonder Woman looks great in the box, but I hate her joints. I wondered if the 4 horsemen could use her axe as a weapon or the top part of a staff for the Sorceress in the MOTU Classics line. WW looks good, except her arms are just a bit… eh. She looks like she got the sickly Olsen’s arms.
Could someone give me some info on how this series relates to the Justice League International? What makes them “International” and are they in scale to the DCU Figures? I’m liking the Blue Beetle.
I love them. I know next to nothing about most of the characters being more of an old school Marvel fan, but they are so much nicer than Marvel Legends ever were. You should give in to Mattels evil Collect them all mentality. Killer Moth is actually really fun once he’s out of the box (whoever the hell he is :D)
When’s wave 8 out? Someone tell me I havent already missed it!!
BTW, Killer Moth wasn’t in the Grodd wave was he?? I thought he was in the Metallo wave??
I’ve been having a lot of fun scavenger hunting these guys. So far I have GL, Batman, WW, Flash, Kid Flash, Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Hawkman, classic Firestorm, Cyborg, Harley Quinn. I think that’s it. I passed up several in the past I wished I had picked up. Currently trying to make a set of basically the old school JL, JLI, Batman family and Teen Titans.
Dying to find classic Aquaman (short hair Arthur Curry), Red Tornado, Atom (Ray Palmer), Penquin, Riddler, Batgirl/Azrael 2 pack, Eradicator, unmasked Batman Beyond, Nightwing, Robin, Deathstroke, Sinestro Corps Sinestro and any of the new releases that I haven’t seen make it to shelves yet.
I check the stores regualry but the shipments seem to be very odd. I can go all over town and find the same one wave of figures but then go to another town and find a completely different wave. Does anyone else see oddities in how they ship these things?
And wave 7 has been here for what seems like a couple months I guess. However if I go to other towns I find tons of wave 4, other places its tons of wave 6, makes no sense to me. My local Walmart has has the same sad two Captain Cold figures hanging there for the longest but the Toys R Us one block over just got a fresh shipment of wave 4.
The only ones I always find hanging here are the Mr. Impossible (or is it Dr.? Not sure if he got his degree…) and Black Mantas. He’s actually the one that got me interested in the line. I remembered him most from the classic Super Friends cartoons and his interpretation was really great. I liked the guy’s freaky head. I got the Black and regular Supermen. I wasn’t too much into the different colored Supermen. I don’t recall a Riddler figure being produced. I’ll have to look him up. I’m wondering why there’s no Joker yet. Talk about Classic!
Well I went back home to visit my family this weekend and managed to snag Shazam/Captain Marvel and Regular Superman. That’s two more I can scratch off my list. They had tons of Killer Moth and Hawkmans.
Oddly enough I went out this past weekend and found some rare ones. I got a Penguin and black suit and classic suit Superman (Target), unmasked Batman Beyond and sonic-arm Cyborg (Walmart). Sonic arm cyborg had previously been a KB toys exclusive but now it’s popping up at Walmart so keep an eye out if youre looking for him.
It’s hit or miss here. Usually we’re behind on getting the releases on time. I still need a Harley Quinn to complete my Gorilla Grodd. I’ve been stalking her on Ebay but haven’t found one I’d want to buy because of the price.
She might be hard to get. Do you really want the figure or just the part?
Please bear with me as I am new to a lot of this. I’m excited to have gotten Shazam! today. My brother-in-law found him at Target, however, it doesn’t have the build-a-piece in it for Kalibak. The packaging is also different. I’m doing searches for it, but there’s no news I can find yet. It doesn’t mention which wave he’s on, it just shows the back with the comic drawings of Batman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Firestorm, Robin and Shazam!, not the usual pie picture in the back that shows which figures in the wave make up build-a-figure guy. The Biography is bigger and takes up about a third of the back of the card. His stats are there and take up about a half of the card back. Let’s put it this way, I want to rip it open, but not if it’s a packaging variation type that’s harder to find. He comes with a stand instead of the build-a-piece. This is fun, yet frustrating to me, because I jumped into collecting these guys so late in the game. I remember hearing about Lobo last year and I was all like, “eh-” Now I’m getting ready to head over and see what type of damage e-Bay has in store for me.
Any help would be appreciated. Actually, I got lots of info from that link that Ou Sooner 1997 provided earlier in the thread. You’ve got an awesome collection! Now I want to build Solomon Grundy. I always thought he was a “special” villain. Then I looked him up and found that he’s a zombie. I love the undead! I know I sound kind of goofy myself, but I’m enjoying learning about all of these characters. I’ve learned about them a little at a time, but mostly from cartoons and online. I remember Shazam because of the Filmation TV show waaay back when I was like a zygote. No chance of Isis, I suppose.
Your bother-in-law picked up the “Worlds Greatest Super-Heroes” SHAZAM that’s a reissue of the wave 6 SHAZAM. Mattel reissues the big guns and SHAZAM is considered a big gun. “Worlds Greatest Super-Heroes” do not come with the C&C;part. It’s not a packaging variation type that’s harder to find. In fact, at this point, finding wave 6 SHAZAM might be harder to find. These were first seen at Walmarts.
I’m not sure you will be able to find all the wave 3 figures to build Solomon Grundy. They were at Targets so I guess that’s a good place to look, or try thrift shops like good will/ salvation army. Any wave 3s that were returned to Target were sent there. You will have to look them over as there were QC issues on that wave.
Isis is going to be tricky for you because she was part of the Filmation TV show and not DC proper. on the flip side, there was a version of Isis in 52 and the collectors of this line have Killer Moth and there are members of the All-Star Squadron starting to show up, so you just never know with DCUC. Mattel wants to get to as many as they can.
Thank you so much for replying, OU Sooner! I opened up Shazam and he’s proudly displayed with those giant shoulders and little vegas side cape. Today I got a hold of Blue Beetle, Cyborg and Captain Cold.
CC looks like he’s wearing 3-D glasses. Cyborg is hot. I like the peeking pecs. I got the one with the turbine arm variant, not the claw. He’s really cool. I wonder if the can use his arm to do a Rio Blast with the MOTUC.
What struck me as funny was Blue Beetle’s BB Gun - it looks like a 1950’s hair dryer! I figure he can thaw out Captain Cold with it. I know what Allen was talking about when he mentioned the goggles on the figure. But if you look at him in the right angle, he looks like he’s wearing those halloween nerd glasses. Don’t get me wrong, I love the guy. But I would like to see a DCU version of the new Blue Beetle. The Hispanic kid from El Paso who does have the Blue Beetle powers. I’m just biased with that guy.
My brother-in-law also called a few minutes ago and let me know that he’s found Batman Beyond. I was ready to do back flips! Collecting this line is going to wipe me out financially. Four figures in less than a week is more than I usually buy. Plus, I KNOW I’m going to buy Hordak this pay period. I’m weighing the options to see if I really need electricity this month. ha-ha-ha!
