Being Human

I’ve mentioned this show a few times on this forum but no ones ever really shown any interest

Basically it’s the story of a vampire, werewolf and a ghost living together.
The main point of interest is George the cute werewolf, who is played by cute Russell Tovey, who gets naked a LOT.
The first episode aired last night in the UK, and after the initial disapointment of Mitchell and Annie having been recast from last years pilot (and Annie being about as different from the origional as you can get) it was rather promising.
In all, I prefered the pilot. It squeezed a lot more into its one hour than this one did, and all meshed together and was easy to follow. But Im sure the series is going to be excellent, and I’ll soon get used to the new Annie, she did play the part well and had a very ‘Billie Piper’ feel to her.

Im assuming this link works outside the UK, but be warned it may not be work safe, with some nudity and a LOT of screaming..

Bryan Fuller Comes to Syfy

I’m not familiar with The Lotus Caves. Is it a good match for Bryan’s quirky style?

From The Ausiello Files:

Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller, I’ve learned exclusively, has just sealed a deal with Syfy to adapt The Lotus Caves for the small screen.

The Lotus Caves is an uberpopular book by sci-fi novelist John Christopher. In it, rebellious lunar colonists dare to take a peek beyond their borders and discover a bunch of brainiac aliens living in the caves of the title.

Anyhoo, Fuller, who also brought Dead Like Me to life, will co-write the script with fellow Daisies gardener Jim Grey.

Inca Mummy Girl a Slayer?

So now that Buffy is in syndication on LOGO i get to watch all the past seasons from start to finish. Currently i’m watching the episode where an incan mummy princess is resurrected and yadda yadda yadda.

Anyways while watching it occurred to me that Ampata, the Inca Mumy Girl of the title, may just have been a slayer. The story she told and the way she repeatedly called herself ‘the chosen one’ makes it all a red herring.

Full disclosure I’ve been thinking about this for some time now and actually given it WAY too much time. But here’s my thought out argument…

With potential slayers all over the world, as seen in Season Six and mentioned in nearly every season, it’s not that much a stretch to believe that either Ampata was a potential if not a called slayer.

If this were the case and with the Shadow Men/Council not being within reach of the potential/slayer then it’s possible that the priests of her village were able to pick up on her mystical heritage and confusing her calling as a guardian warrior with a guardian sacrifice…

So aside from having invested too much time and effort in all this what do you all think?

SyFy’s The Phantom miniseries

I just found out that Syfy already aired their The Phantom miniseries on June 20th i heard absolutely nothing about, which was odd because their Alice in Wonderland spots were everywhere and that was just AWFUL.

By the lack of promotion I’m assuming it was another one of those Syfy flops but i still want to see what they did with it. Anyway, did anybody catch?

“Young Justice” on Cartoon Network

Video footage of the series with interviews of the producers:
http://spinoff.comicbookresources.com/2010/07/23/cci-first-look-at-animated-young-justice/

In the video, producers Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti discuss the characters and the development of the series, and reveal — for all of those continuity sticklers out there — that it’s set in the present, but in “a young DC Universe.” “Superman showed up just 10 years ago,” Weisman says.

What’s more, he discloses that the Young Justice roster — Robin, Superboy, Kid Flash, Miss Martian, Artemis and Aqualad — is “really just the tip of the iceberg.”

IGN claims it is going to be set on an alternate Earth:
http://tv.ign.com/articles/110/1108218p1.html

As explained, Young Justice will take place with the DC multiverse on Earth-16. As a conscious choice, DC chose this world as it is untapped, which allowed them to set the rules and conditions for their universe. To start off, Superman has been fighting crime for 10 years and the Justice League is new to the scene. So effective at their job, the heroes of this world have forced the villains underground, to band together in more intelligent ways against the forces of good. With celebrity status, the Justice League is constantly in the public eye, so they need a team to be able to work covertly, under the radar, in order to take it to the villains. And that team is Young Justice.

Young Justice will be comprised of Robin (Dick Grayson), Kid Flash (Wally West), Aqualad (new to the DCU, just appearing in Brightest Day #4), Superboy (Connor Kent), Miss Martian and Artemis (previously Artemiz in the DCU). The new Aqualad will be the leader of the team of side kicks which want more responsibility than just playing second fiddle to their superhero counterparts.

While the costumes looked like Tim and Bart’s the characters are Dick and Wally but not “our” Dick and Wally, Earth-16’s Dick and Wally. It’s kind of Young Justice, kind of Teen Titans and kind of all new.

Smallville

If you haven’t been watching Smallville lately, your missing something super.

Last season saw the departure of Lana from Clark’s life while Lois continued to make sparks. Lex disappeared after a fight with Clark in the Fortress. Luthorcorp is now run by the fabulously evil Tess Mercer. Tess is both obsessed with finding Lex and learning the answers to Lex’s interest in Clark. At the end of Season 8 we find out she has possession of an orb apparently of Kryptonian origin.

Speaking of Kryptonian origins, Davis Bloom is revealed to be an anti-Clark of sorts the will bring about Doomsday.

And if you want heroes- season 8 saw guest appearances by Saturn Girl Lightening Lad and Cosmic Boy, Dan Turpin, Maxima, Green Arrow’s team with Impulse and Black Canary.

Some continuity clean-up, Chloe’s beloved Jimmy is in fact Henry James Olsen and not the James Bartholomew Olsen we know from the comics.

During Season 8 Clark is operating as a hero know as “the red/blue blur” thanks to a picture printed in the Daily Planet, at the end of last Season Clark has decided to embrace his destiny as a hero but has decided to do so full time telling Chloe “Clark Kent is dead”

Season 9 starts up from there tonight (Friday) at 8pm

TORCHWOOD TO RETURN FOR SEASON 4!

BBC has just announced that not only will Torchwood be returning for a fourth season but so will John Barrowman and Eve Myles. Apparently after talking with FOX about an American version Fox decided to pull out, something tells me they wanted to nix Jacks gayness.

Now with funding from STARZ they’ll be producing a fourth season that won’t just be filmed in the UK anymore. According to the Guardian the series will be shot in several locations, and not JUST in Wales as before, including the US and other locations around the world.

When i heard about the Starz part i was a little if-ish cause Spartacus is so awful but this definitely means that not only Jack’s sexuality secure BUT we’ll probably get some extra gay slapped on for good measure.

here’s a link to the article:

Just watched the “Overflow” episode from Friday. I do like this show, though I felt it had more possibilities without Charles X acting as, you know, Charlie from Charlie’s Angels, giving the team assignments every week. I think it would have been more compelling if the team had started preventing the future apocalypse on their own, with Charles unable to contact them, depending on them from afar. I’m not that familiar with the X-Men books, only the animates series and movies, so maybe this is an existing storyline from the books.

I do like Emma Frost. And I love that they’ve animated Logan with such a cute ass.
