So, if you haven’t heard DC is going “day and date” and will be offering digital versions of all their comics at the same price.

They are so excited on this being a new chapter for DC that all 52 titles will begin at #1. I guess the idea being it’s hard to market Action comics #908 or something as your new Superman download.

A bunch of characters are getting de-aged and new costumes (by Jim Lee) although not all continuity is thrown out the window.

The books selling well- Batman and Green Lantern will remain mostly unchanged but others like JLA will start by telling a new story of the formation of the team.

On the one hand its going to hit comic book sores, on the other hand most magazines are going digital and the comic industry is dying already. Do you try to save the shops or save yourself?

And it sounds good for minority characters- Batwoman #1 will finally come and now as part of the big new push.Mr Terrific is also getting a title at a predominantly white company.
I wonder how much digital will get a start from minorities who aren’t catered to in their cities?

Although I"m one of the late, if never, adopters who will continue to buy print just cause I like the feel. I wonder what the stats are on e-readers and usage for such a thing? Will it draw comic fans away, or are we talking about appealing to new people outside the comic book shop?

So i fell off the comic book wagon and I’m trying to catch up and as the saying goes miss a little MISS A WHOLE FUCKING LOT!... or maybe that’s just what i say either way I’m super lost. To be perfectly honest i’m about 3 years behind I’m vaguely acquainted with what’s been brewing over at the MU but, nonetheless, i remain baffled and confused and not just by storylines but also from the giant pot holes that’s created by not reading anything for 3 years.

In the past the TPB was my best friend as was the Marvel site which itemized it so well for any fan with records as far back as half a decade. Unfortunately, their latest streamlining has made it less maneuverable so now i turn to my fellow gay geeks for help. I’m looking to catch up on my favorite titles I left off around early-mid jun 2008 so that was just around the time Secret Invasion was unfolding, The X-Men were in the final leg of Divided We Stand, X-Men: Legacy became the main X-title and so on and so forth.

I’ve been able to find a couple of great lists on Amazon but five TPB or collections for 3-4 yrs just doesn’t seem to be enough. So if anyone can point me to some more in depth lists of TPBs or hardcovers would be great Amazon seems to be the only one i can really find i could go on marvel and try to figure it out but I’m sure there is an easier way.

Thanks in advanced everyone!

After brutally massacring a criminal ring traditional lawmen have failed to stop, the lives of two policemen, brothers Frank and Henry Lincoln, are forced to diverge. Torn by conflicting reactions to the event, one brother, Frank, chooses to uphold justice through the law; the other sets out on a shady path to enforce the sort of justice the law cannot stomach. 35 years later, Frank Lincoln, now a veteran of the San Francisco PD and about to retire, takes his final case, investigating a string of vigilante killings that stir memories of his long-estranged brother. Meanwhile, Henry, too, approaches retirement, as he finds himself becoming too old to continue his violent lifestyle. With the ends of both brothers’ careers approaching, each attempts to train his replacement, hoping to remake his protégé in his own image; however, the world around them has changed in ways neither could have foreseen, leaving them utterly unprepared for the true lawlessness and corruption they will soon be forced to face.

DC Comics has titled their new ad campaign promoting the fact that all ongoing 32 page comics will be 2.99 from here out.

http://www.dccomics.com/sites/299/

Beginning January 2011, DC Comics will implement a line-wide pricing adjustment, lowering the prices of all standard length 32-page ongoing comic book titles currently priced at $3.99 to $2.99.

“This announcement reaffirms DC Comics’ commitment to both our core fans and to comic book store retailers,” said Jim Lee, DC Comics Co-Publisher. “For the long term health of the industry, we are willing to take a financial risk so that readers who love our medium do not abandon the art form.”

Exempt are one-shots, specials, annuals, and oversized comics.

Judging from solicitations, ‘Action Comics’ and ‘Adventure Comics’ no longer have backup stories and are 32 pages for 2.99 again.

As square as Archie Comics is, this is all pretty cool.
