“If you’re sitting up there in your silly little space ships with all your silly little guns, and you’ve got any plans on taking the Pandorica tonight, just remember who’s standing in your way! Remember every black day I ever stopped you, and then, and then, do the smart thing. Let somebody else try first!”

Sunday, June 27, 2010Quote of the Week: Shake Them Haters OffWhen I can bring myself to watch or read the news, I find it very frustrating that the media will give a voice to just about any anti-gay wacko who has something cruel to say, but won’t follow it up with any sort of positive message from anyone else. I mean, have they determined that the formula to sell their advertisers’ products is to put as much sensationalized anti-gay rhetoric they can out in the universe? Does that really sell soap and used cars? I was feeling particularly hopeless recently, when I happened to hear part of this song on OutQ on Sirius XM. It’s by Kelly Rowland (formerly of Destiny’s Child), and she shared the track exclusively with OutQ. (Yay for Kelly!) Since then, it’s been leaked all over the interwebs, and I’ve adopted it as my new anthem. I’m not perfect, but I try to be a good person. Try to be honest and compassionate. Try to help more than I harm. Try to love and be loved. Then, the next day, I try to do better. So, sometimes it just baffles me that there are so many people out there who don’t know me, but hate me and my friends and loved ones and go to bed proud that they’ve spread just a little more hate in the world. Bizarre. Kelly sums up some of my feelings very nicely in ”Shake Them Haters Off,” which is an admittedly silly name for an upbeat song about living your life in the face of adversity. Here’s a line:
“It’s like a job that I never get a break from,
And here’s the song. Can’t wait for Kelly’s new album and a video of this.

![]() Friday, June 25, 2010FBOTM Friday: My Heart Belongs to Moses![]() You may recall that when I introduced June Fanboy of the Month Moses at the beginning of the month, I mentioned he and May 2009 FBOTM Rob are roommates. Now, whenever I find out two ridiculously hot guys are living together, platonically, I have questions. So, during the course of the shoot, I tried to get to the bottom (or FBOTM) of things. Like, do they ever have a platonic wrestling match that ends in a shower together? Or is there ever any platonic naked bongo drum playing going on? I’m sad to report that all my questions were met with eye rolling, laughter and “No! We’re just friends!” Well then, just what is the point of two FBOTMs living together? All those video games, comics and action figures make a perfect backdrop for romance, if you ask me. No such luck, I’m afraid. However, I will see what I can do about getting them in a shoot together. For now, Moses has promised to invite me should they ever have a naked Wii hula hoop contest. Let’s just think about that for a bit while perusing the last of the good stuff:
• Check out the final, sizzling photos from Moses’s shoot in the Gallery.
I’d like to thank Moses for being such a good sport and for finally signing up to be an FBOTM. Guess what? If you’re in the Los Angeles area, you can sign up to be an FBOTM, too! Our next shoot is coming up very soon, so if you’re ready for your FBOTM close-up, let me know! Have a great weekend! Wednesday, June 23, 2010First Look: Team Coco![]() Filming on the new Conan movie just wrapped, so we’ve been treated to a still from the film to help get us all hot and bothered in anticipation of the 2011 release. Jason Momoa strikes a suitably smoldering pose as the barbarian who must avenge the death of his father and village and loincloth tailor and who knows what else. I’m not familiar with Mr. Momoa’s career, but I’m told he was in Stargate: Atlantis and is far more articulate than Mr. Schwarzenegger was (or is). This is certainly a plus, because I like a man who can fill a loincloth, kill an army and still discuss Chaucer before a night of passionate, barbaric lovin’. And can I just say that I love the hair?! One of my deepest, darkest secrets is that I drool over guys with long hair. Hopefully, Conan will be a big hit and will usher in a new era of long, lovely locks on guys. It’s about time we take long hair back from those Chippendales whores. Go Coco! A Cross Between Batman and Tommy BoyThe first trailer for The Green Hornet hit the web yesterday, so I can officially stop dreaming of seeing the ultra cool super retro mod superhero movie of my dreams. I was really hoping we’d finally see Seth Rogen acting more like Adam West and less like Chris Farley. Oh well. At least it’s in 3D. And the studio is dumping it in January, where films go to die, so you know they’re behind it. One saving grace, though, is Jay Chou as Kato. He is certainly yummy enough to get me in the theater. But will that be enough? Behold:
What do you think? Still too soon to tell? Or is it just more of the same from people who should know better?
Tuesday, June 22, 2010Sony Talks “The Boys” with Adam McKay![]() From the director of Anchorman comes...The Boys? According to Entertainment Weekly, Adam McKay (Will Farrell’s go-to guy) is in talks with Sony to direct Garth Ennis‘s anti-superhero epic. McKay would certainly appeal to the male of the species, but does he have what it takes to make a darkly comic, deeply disturbing, ultra-violent Boys movie? I’m a fan of The Boys, and in the right hands, it could be a grittier, giddier version of The Watchmen. Actually, I think Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim) would be a good choice to direct The Boys. Plus, that would help get Simon Pegg on board to play Wee Hughie. Although casting Simon would be a no-brainer, since the character was based on him, he Tweeted last year that he believed he was too old to play Hughie at this point. With Wright at the helm, Pegg would follow. This is all conjecture, of course. Who knows? Maybe a McKay version would work. Farrell could certainly make a cameo as one of the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical superheroes. The challenge will be in striking the right tone, but keeping it from turning into camp. As ridiculous and over-the-top as it all is, Ennis always managers to sober things up with well-placed doses of violence and terror. A movie that can capture the funny and horrific awkwardness of the comics could be the start of a film franchise. What do you think? Who should bring The Boys to life? Monday, June 21, 2010Gear Up the Gay Comic Geek Contest: Make It Work!![]() At the Gay Comic Geek‘s Fanboy of the Month photo shoot, I got to choose his wardrobe and dress him up however I wanted.
