Cyber Monday: Last Chance to Get FBOTU Crap!

image

Well, that’s a lie. I mean, it’s your last chance to get the current designs at the FBOTU Store. Logo shirts will still be available, then after this week, all the current designs will be removed to make way for new FBOTU and FBOTU-related stuff. So, if you’ve been putting off getting a Montgomery t-shirt featuring Diego Gomez‘s artwork, best not wait any longer! Or wouldn’t Christmas morning with the fam be even brighter if you were wearing a Furry Underpants t-shirt and some FBOTU boxers? Stay tuned for new design announcements before year’s end!

And if you already own FBOTU fashions, feel free to snap a pic or two and send them to me. I’ll create a gallery of site members wearing their FBOTU gear!

Quote of the Week: The Snake Charmer

I always watch the Kill Bill saga very reluctantly. It’s just too bloody and violent for my delicate sensibilities. That said, when I do catch it on TV or walk into a room where it’s playing, I can rarely tear myself away. So I cringe and gag and hide my eyes through the whole thing. The pain and discomfort are worth it, though, because in between the beheadings and bloodlettings, you get dialogue like this:

“Clark Kent is how Superman views us. And what are the characteristics of Clark Kent? He’s weak...he’s unsure of himself...he’s a coward. Clark Kent is Superman’s critique on the whole human race.”
-Bill, Kill Bill: Vol. 2

Thank to LongSufferingBoyfriend for suggesting it. If you have a favorite quote you’d like to suggest for the Quote of the Week, please feel free to PM me. Now, on with the show:

Quidditch for Muggles, Anyone?

I’ve read all the books. And listened to Jim Dale read them all on audiobook. I’ve been to midnight premieres of the movies. I’ve invested in the toys. I’ve even seen Daniel Radcliffe naked, live and in person. But a real game of Quidditch...on an earth-bound broom no less...might be too big of a leap for me. Still, I applaud anyone willing to be silly for the fandom they love. Let’s watch, shall we?

So, which position would you play? Chaser, Beater, Keeper, Seeker...or maybe the Golden Snitch?

Black Friday Is No Match for FBOTM Friday!

image

No leftovers here! Check out brand new shots from November Fanboy of the Month Marc‘s photo shoot in the Gallery! Towards the end of the shoot, we were running out of time at our location, and comic book geeks were lining up outside to get in and grab their latest issues. Maybe it was the added pressure and excitement, or maybe he was just feeling a little frisky, but for the final frames, Marc dropped his briefs, grabbed Thor and said, “Shoot!” Well, he didn’t have to tell me twice. You’ll see one of the Thor shots posted in the Gallery, but if you’d like to see a couple more, just let me know and I’ll PM you the goods!

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday yesterday! Tune in next Friday to meet December FBOTM Trent! Have a great weekend!

Guess Who’s Not Coming to Dinner?

image

Awww. Check out the Disney Princess Shimmer Doll Collection from Target. The whole gang of lovely royal ladies is included, even Mulan, who isn’t a princess at all. She’s a cross-dressing army wife. You know who really is a princess? Pocahontas. Her father’s a chief, after all. It looks like the Princesses have been given a makeover, too, with new frocks of the shimmery variety. You know who wears clothes? Pocahontas. Are you telling me you can make a fish tail out of shimmery lamé, but not a buckskin mini-skirt? Some of these sets of dolls even come with shimmery color-coordinated horses, too. You know who has a horse? Pocahontas. In fact, it makes a lot more sense for Poca to have a shimmery horse than, say, Cinderella, who was never really known for her equestrian skills, except for the whole pumpkin coach thing, which she did not drive herself. With just a day to go before Thanksgiving, I wonder if the Princesses will be donning their shimmery gowns and enjoying a feast, undoubtedly whipped up by kitchen-bound fairy godmothers. You know who else enjoys Thanksgiving? Pocahontas. In fact, let’s see how much Pocahontas enjoys Thanksgiving in this clip of “A Turkey Named Brotherhood” from Addams Family Values.

“Halfsies” on a Helmet?

If you’re a longtime FBOTU reader, you know I finally broke down and bought the leather briefs prop replica from 300 a while back and even made October FBOTM Justin model them for us. I bought the crazy things because, in the back of my mind, is a fantasy thought of putting together a full replica Spartan costume. I just can’t bring myself to drop the cash on the whole shebang, so I’ve been picking up a piece here and there on sale or when there’s some sort of promotion. Well, lo and behold, Action Figure Express is having a big “Buy One, Get One Free” sale right now. And guess what’s up for grabs? Yup. An officially licensed replica of King Leonidas’s helmet:

image

If you buy one, it’s $119. But if you pay $120, you get two. I know. It makes no sense. Why can’t I just buy one for $60? But that’s the deal. So who wants to go halfsies with me? I get a helmet, you get a helmet. It’ll make a great gift for that hot Spartan wannabe in your life! Or wear it when you get called for jury duty! You’re sure to get sent home. Did I mention I get a helmet? Offer ends December 1. So let me know! You could be dining in hell in time for the holidays!

A Super Time to Be So Super Duper (Comic Book Giveaway!)

image

When last we left fledgling superhero Psyche, he was recovering from an epic battle, obsessing over his newly discovered feelings for team leader Captain Idol as well as dreamy superguy Comet and trying to oppress his homo epiphany by smooching his best gal pal Skip. Issue #6 of So Super Duper first brings us up to speed on the main characters, then launches right into the action. The intrigues from Captain Idol’s mysterious past keep piling up as the Amazin’Naughts head off to bid farewell to a fallen team member, and Psyche fears his secret is all too obvious to his teammates. What So Super Duper lacks in sophistication, it more than makes up for with wit and charm. Psyche is a painfully realistic gay everyman, experiencing both excitement and denial in his sexual awakening. He’s making every mistake in the book presently, and one can only hope his selfish and single-minded behavior is but a stepping stone in his character development. However, it’s those sorts of human touches that elevate So Super Duper and transcend the comics medium, creating a fun, yet poignant coming out story.

If you haven’t hopped on board the So Super Duper bandwagon, now is a great time, and Fanboys of the Universe is here to help. The first three SSD fans who post “Holy shiznit!” in the comments section of this post will get a free copy of brand-new Issue #6! You can learn more about So Super Super at the official site, and you can buy past and current issues at Indyplanet.com
